Hi,

Right, just got an Ipaq 2210, hard reset, it already has Bios 1.10. BT driver (If I'm in the right place) says 1.48.60 and/or 1.48 Build 60.

NO ADDITIONAL SOFTWARE INSTALLED.

Unboxed brand new Fortuna Clip on BT GPS Receiver. turned it on and there was no BT activity.

On Ipaq went to BT Manager, New, Connect, explore a bluetooth device, Next. No devices listed. Tapped there to choose. It found a Clipon BTGPS (with a question mark on it). Selected it and it asked for a passkey. Entered 0000 and clicked okay.

Service selection screen came up, selected only option which was SPP slave. Then Next and finish. Tapped and held on new shortcut. It connected. On active connections it had outgoing connection of Clipon BTGPS SPP Slave with 5 green dots. Checked status of same and signal strength just right, no bytes sent or received.

Connected for 1 - 3 min then BT drops. I can reconnect but same happens again.

Tearing hair out. Can you offer any suggestions?

(I have deleted shortcut, unpaired device and tried again, no joy.)

Regards
BH

Sorry should have set this yesterday but forgot to press submit. Sad

I have the same set up and it works OK. It is also set as an SSP device.

low battery power in either device.

I also have no activity in the FCO unless the iPAQ and the FCO are in communication, so dont worry about that.

Were you testing it from within a Sat nav application. Other times the connection should be passive. Apps such as TomTom maintain the connection activity.

Other issues that can have an effect:-
1)I have noticed that certainly when begining a config the battery power in BT devices is critical, ensure both are well charged.
2) If there are problems pairing \bonding always do a soft reset.

Hope this helps...

I think my prob was that I had no software installed. My guess is that the inactivity caused a timeout.

I Installed GPSDash which kept the connection alive (until GPSDash timed out, damned shareware Rolling Eyes )

I then installed tom tom 3 and this worked fine, keeping the connection going of course.

One oddity, Although the BTGPS is paired, I have not gone through the shortcut creation thing and consequently no icons in bt manager regarding shortcuts. No setting of spp slave etc.

Hey, but it ain't broke.......

if dont create and ssp you wont see the gps in the bt manager until you use the gps and then you see it as an outgoing connection
