Hi guys, I am new to the forum and come seeking advice!

TomTom are just about to launch a new GPS running watch in the UK called the TomTom runner. It has been out for a while in the USA and a few first looks claim that it has one of the best GPS receivers in the market. From a bit of research I think it has the QuickGPSFIX technology which is some sort of way of predicting satellite locations?

Basically what I want to know is a) is this QuickGPSFIX worth all the hype and b) if its not actually that good a technology, is there another GPS running watch manufacturer/model that you can recommend?

Thanks in advance [/url]

QuickGPSFix is a small file which predicts the locations of the satellites which gets downloaded when you connect the TomTom for updates.
It can be useful if you don't use a TomTom for long periods as it can speed up satellite acquisition times, but all modern TomToms seem very quick to find them anyway.

It's good technology, but I can't remember the last time I even thought about it, it just sits in the background.

Nike already do a GPS watch that uses the TomTom engine. It's on the main TT website alongside the new TT watch here:

and there's a review of it on this site, Darren used it for a marathon run.

Garmin also do a whole range of "Forerunner" sports watch GPS models:
