Ive used one of these SD memory cards on my 4150 and Pentax Optio S which works perfectly and is fast. The price is £29.49 for 256Meg and £63.99 for the 512meg. There is no VAt as they are based in Gurnsey

And no I dont work for them but I do purchase quite a few products from their site.

I've edited your post to remove the spurious [url] tag at the end (I'm glad it worked - I still need my moderator L plates!).

Can you post the markings from the back of your card? If you do, I might be able to identify the manufacturer.

There is VAT on items over £18 - but it's prepaid by 7dayshop (and MX2 and Photoglossy) - their low prices are down to being in a big group of sheds in Guernsey with a small staff doing an enormous volume of orders....

I fondly remember the day I had 70-odd jiffy bags plop through my letterbox in a 8O

It's the markings on the back of the card that are crucial - I can identify several manufacturers from the markings. Integral rebrand memory from other manufacturers.

I have a 512MB Integral SD card that is Panasonic (ValueFlash knew they had a batch of 512MB Integral SD cards that were Panasonic, and they were willing to guarantee you would get a Panasonic card if you ordered - I think they've still got some of these cards). However, ValueFlash believe that more recent Integral cards tend to be from cheaper, inferior manufacturers to Panasonic.

Later type Sandisk - not as bad as earlier type, but potentially troublesome nevertheless.

Email ValueFlash at sales@valueflash.co.uk and ask what SD cards they've got that are made by Panasonic.

I believe that the 256MB Dane-Elec XS (not the standard Dane-Elec) and 512MB Integral cards they have are Panasonic - though it's best to check first.

These won't be the cheapest cards, but they're good!

David - is there any chance of IDing this one ? - It's a 512 I just got in a megabargain deal, and it'll be even better if it's a decent one :D .... markings on the back are:

SD-M512B1
0418 SD3087 H
MADE IN TAIWAN

Cheers

Unfortunately that particular style of markings is unknown to me. I suspect it's neither Sandisk nor one of Japanese manufacturers which tend to be high performance cards (Toshiba and Panasonic).

There's a couple of styles of markings I can't tie down. One is probably Infineon - but unless I receive more information, I'm stuck with this one.

If you've got Anton Tomov's Pocket Mechanic, benchmark the card - not only will that give you some idea of the performance, but if you choose appropriate settings, you can torture the card for a while and see if it'll fall over or not.

I shall look around for the program, however a little more detective work suggests that the SD-MxxxB1 series of cards are in fact Toshiba in origin, but designated "bulk" - as I have a dead card bearing the SD-M128B1 mark I thought I'd dissect it.... and hey presto on my sample of 1 (ok not statistically significant) the internals are Toshiba chips - and my desk at work a mess of blue plastic shavings Happy

OK - both of the suspected Toshiba cards have Manufacturer ID starting "20" and a Sandisk I have starts "30" - does that help you at all David ?
