I’ve had some time to test the new TomTom Traffic (TTNav3.04T) and it does look a lot better. It still needs to be “shown the way” to get it to set-up a GPRS connection. I suspect that it’s because I’m running a PPC2002 iPAQ 3970, however the Nokia 6310i phone may have some bearing on the issue.

If I do the following in order, TomTom Traffic usually works:
1. Switch on Fortuna Clip-On
2. Switch on iPAQ
3. Ensure Bluetooth Manager is running
4. Manually set Nokia 6310i as “Bluetooth Dialup Modem”
5. Start GPSAssist, which in turn starts TTNav.

I drove to work this morning with TomTom Traffic automatically updating every 5 minutes for the whole of the journey. Traffic updated successfully 8 times. I noticed on one occasion it showed over 220 incidents for the whole of the GB map.

I went out again at lunchtime today and it worked just as well. However it failed when I tried it just now without the Clip-On switched on (no point in our office as the windows have metallic mirrored film which blocks the signal).

I’m going on a longer journey this evening, so I’ll see how it works then.

Regards,

Installed and using TTT3.02 over the past few days. A few observations: -

1) In Navigator Menu (2), "Update Traffic" appears instead of the "More" button meaning you can't progress to later menus;

2) TrafficMaster Freeway warned of 3 traffic jams over the past 3 days but TT Traffic failed to notice a delay before, during or after the incident inspite of regular updates. Unless the data source improves the service will be of limited benefit!; and

3) Frequently drops the GPRS link, I guess this might be due to a conflict with Journal Bar.

Installed TTN3.03 over TTN3.00/GPS3.02 on a 2210 with 1.1 ROM

Did a backup followed by a soft reset (to ensure nothing untoward running in memory). Worked flawlessly and no lockups.

Fingers crossed Smile

A friend of mine has tried upgrading to 3.03 (he has a 2210 with BT and CF) and when he runs TomTom he says it cannot find the maps.

If he reverts back to 3.01 everything's fine.

Any ideas?

I've seen the same thing. They say that TomTom has changed their security.
Now "illegal" maps will no longer function Confused ?

If anyone can confirm this please let me know.
(Or has a solution Wink )

thanx,

Harold

I am very cheesed off, I have removed Tom Tom, re-installed it , then Traffic and then the 3.04 patch. Everything installs fine, it shows 3.04T as the version, GPS is still showing 2.09 or something like it but there is no Sutton bloody Coldfield or any of the other missing places.

Please help before it is binned

Thanks

Paul

Have you tried uninstalling everything, then install 3.0 from the CD, then installing the update 3.03, and only then installing 3.04T to give you traffic?

Delete the maps from your card and re-install the maps from the CD. The database file could be corrupted.

It may seem obvious, but does the map you are looking at cover these places? As an extreme example, you cannot search for Sutton Coldfield whilst using the London map. It is easy to be on a regional map and forget about this thinking you are on the UK map.

Are using the UK maps from the UK main CD or the UK map from the European Collection?

Mr. T I don't care what the rest say about you, in my eyes you are the man.

Went to change the map,i only have Great Britain installed, but doing this has sorted the issue.

Superb, thanks

Boo Hiss! TTN300 with GPS302 was rock solid - no GPS drops but did have all the address lookup problems. TTN303/GPS303 keeps giving GPS Unreliable and if you flick to the GPS screen there is no communication going on between PDA and GPS even though the BT light on the GPS is steady (or fast flicker depending on your perception). Leave it for a couple of minutes and it may come back (sometimes it came back in 10 secs but several times it didn't come back at all. I was driving on a frequented road with 7 satellite coverage and I do not normally get drops on it.

I'm going to try uninstalling GPS 303 and putting GPS 302 on. I'll post back with results.

I've had probs after installing 3.04T. It kept reporting it was 3.02T and Sutton Coldfield etc were not in the database. To solve this I uninstalled everything, when back to the CD, installed this and then installed the upgrade 3.03. This worked fine: it reported itself as 3.03 and Sutton Coldfield etc were there.

So since I had 3.03 working, I thought all I had to do was to download 3.04T again and surely everything would be fine. Wrong, after installing 3.04T it reported itself as 3.02T and the cities had gone again. What is going wrong? The only thing I can think of is that I have not dowloaded the correct 3.04T. I notice it is called ttntaf.exe and is 6155Kb. Is this the correct file? I can't find any other file on the TomTom website.

I currently don't have Traffic installed. Will installing 3.03 mean that I can't install Traffic at a later date?
