I hope i have put this in the right forum i bought the Android Nexus 7 about 3 weeks ago after reading all the good reviews on the web. To-day we were going out in the car i setup my garmin and left the house the garmin packed up 3 miles from the house so went back home and got my Nexus 7 set it up in the car for my destination . how disappointed it was the sound was on high but still to low to hear in the car my wife had to use the head phones and then tell me when to turn we got there in the end but i do not understand how anyone can use the Nexus 7 as a sat nav the sound is far to low to hear. So before i replace my 8 year old Garmin with a new Garmin is there any way i can use the Nexus 7 as a sat nav in the car hoping someone can give me some advice on how to set it up as a in car sat nav thank,s

Just a quick thought, have you checked the individual sound settings within the 'Settings' tab for sound - if you see what I mean.

There are usually different settings for media, notifications, system etc.

I'm using a Nexus 7 and find the speaker is loud enough to hear easily in-car.

The speaker isn't loud by any any means but it's loud enough. It's no worse than any other smartphone device. But for those who have Bluetooth audio in the car hi-fi it's a non-issue.

I'm using CoPilot at the moment but TomTom will be an option by then end of this week too.

Updating the Camera database is easy enough, the Nexus 7 has WiFi so you can connect to a home wireless network to update each week.

You'd use our CamerAlert app. Database updates are done in the app.

Darren i have read the guide as you suggested and downloaded the cameralert app got the
armchair setup got the latest camera download . Went out in the car this morning using my google mapping but no camera on the mapping went back to the guide but could not get a answer as to why i had no camera on the google mapping. I went back to the armchair map but cant navigate with that so what am i doing wrong. If i buy Copilot or Tom Tom mapping will the app download to that i have checked through all the setting in the
armchair screen and cant find anything to transfer the cameras to other mapping i give up so some help thank you.

The CamerAlert app cannot display the speed cameras on another app.

And, unless your Nexus 7 has a SIM card then the maps in CamerAlert, or Google maps app, won't work as they require data access.

However it will still sound alerts and display visual warning and can run alongside another app. If you had CoPilot running in the foreground then CamerAlert would still sound audio alerts and pop up a warning banner at the top of the screen.
