Can I re-ignite the debate on missing icons?
I originally had the speed consolidated csv files (5) installed.
I noticed that although I got the speed camera warnings (grey banner) the Gatso icons were present but not 'mobile sites'. these were replaced by a black dot.
After reading MaFt's comments in the 'Information sticky' I installed the GPX files with Cbrom.
On a return trip to London over last couple of days (650 miles) I noticed that although still receiving the warning banners, a number of icons were not displayed - I would estimate 20-25%.
No sign of black dots this time
The majority again seemed to be mobile sites
I had previously disabled the over-speed function and the Garmin camera database.
The GPX files were selected to 'always show'
I noted 3 camera ID's as examples:
Gatso 54263 & 52949 near Woking
Mobile 101971 near Sandbach
Occasionally a large camera icon displayed on the screen - middle left.
When pressed this identified a random camera (sometimes miles away) and asked if I wanted a route to it.
Your thoughts/advice appreciated _________________ Garmin nuvi 2595LMT

I've read all the posts and I'm fairly convinced this is an icon overlapping issue.
On motorways for example you often get cameras on a single gantry facing both ways. With this close proximity and the scale of a SatNav device there is going to be an overlap of bitmaps.
The previous person with this problem didn't feel confident enough to edit the files. I still believe the next step to track this down is to find, as you have, some culprits and investigate further by removing one of the cameras in a 'pair'.
You don't need to go out on a short drive as the Garmin simulated feature allows you to test from indoors.
If you can get permission from PGPSW site owners and you have a place I can dump a GPI file with duplicates removed let me know. _________________ Satnav:

Hi Kremmen
Not sure how to obtain the permission you suggested.
Could I not remove one of the gatso's noted from a database I've already downloaded?
I assume the are coded North & South followed by the camera number if on the same gantry
I wondered if overlap could be the case as some of the time the screen was rather cluttered with other icons where I expected the camera icons to be.
However at other times the screen was completely empty other than the route.
I can understand your theory, and have seen gantry cameras on the opposite carriage-way; but is it not unusual for mobile cameras to over lap?
Also I never came across this with my Tom-Tom unit.
However willing to give it a go if permitted.
Any idea what the large camera icon is (about 1cm sq). It only appears with the banner warning (but doesn't relate to that camera) and disappears after about 30 secs or so. Pressing it offers the option of a route
Rgds

No real idea is this may affect things in any way, but do you still have the Cyclops speed camera db demo installed? |

Mm... now you've got me.
It may be an option in Settings or a file/directory within the Garmin
internal memory - the latter I think on my 2460. May also depend on model.
Check your manual for camera or proximity alerts.
If the latter, firstly make a good backup of the whole Garmin drive. Useful anyway but more so if this goes wrong
A search for filename containing cyclops should find anything. Move files to PC drive, then test.
A search of the forum for posts containing 'remove' and 'cyclops' brings up 3 pages so try that too if you have problems. |

On my latest Nuvi 50 and my previous Nuvi 2200 the Cyclops database was in the "POI" folder.
This POI folder is also where POILoader places the newly created GPI file from the CSV's.
With regard to permission, I can't give out a GPI database file with adjacent cameras removed for testing because that would be piracy.
With help from the site admin I could supply a GPI file that works perfectly OK on my unit that could be copied straight onto your device for icon testing. _________________ Satnav:
