I have this on my 550 but copying the suspend.ogg from that to the root and sounds folder on my 520 doesn't work (and in TTHome the shutdown sounds download option is greyed out)

Can this be done somehow?

Officially no... the GO x20 models simply don't support start-up and shut-down sounds.

There is a chart HERE that shows which of the extra "create your own content" goodies are possible on each model (but beware... I have never got that page to load properly in Firefox, it just comes up mainly blank. It works OK in Internet Explorer though)

However, if you can get it to work, I had an old topic bookmarked which describes a third-party add-on to give startup/shutdown sounds on other models.

If you can understand it, it's here:

I found it! -- Customize startup and shutdown sounds

I've a sneaky feeling it only worked on v7 TomTom software though.

Do you get a chart with lots of ticks and crosses?
For me everything else on those pages displays fine, such as the instructions, but their link to the compatibility chart itself doesn't (and I'm on FF 13 too)

Yes - all the way from the 940 to the 'originals'.

It might be something to do with 'scripts' rather than a Link.

I'm on FF13 too, and I don't get the chart either, Andy.

I have the Status-4-Evar add-on, and it displays "javascript:void(0)".

I use the NoScript plug-in with my FF13. If I "allow" tomtom.com I get to see the chart perfectly. If I mark tomtom.com as "Untrusted" the chart disappears.

FF 13.0.1 on my Mac, shows the chart, ticks and crosses. Don't ask me anything technical, cos I don't know. Wink

Interesting.. I just disabled ALL my extensions (ran FF in safe mode) and still no chart.
Java Platform SE6 U32 is installed (in Tools/Add-ons Plug-ins). Should Javascript be installed separately?

My Tools/Add-ons Plug-ins shows Java Platform SE 7 U5 10.5.1.255 and Java Deployment Toolkit 7.0.50.255 10.5.1.255.

I'm afraid I've misled you on the status bar display. When I follow the link in FF13 I get a page that's blank apart from the heading "Introduction" and the status bar displays "Done". It's when I click on any of the links below "Introduction" in the left-hand column that I get "javascript:void(0)".

In IE8 the chart displays OK, but the left-hand column links still result in "javascript:void(0)".

I'm on W7 64-bit with Java 32-bit installed as both browsers are 32-bit.

Sorry to ask a new question rather than answer the original one but I'm really just thinking out loud and hoping that it may help the OP.

When the "chart" was made up I guess that the x10, x20, x30 & x40's were on NavCore v8.x and the x50's on NavCore v9.x . But now that TT have brought ALL the 2ndGen Go's onto the same NavCore (currently 9.430 - I think) why can't they all play start-up and shut-down sounds?

@justbrowsing. Out of curiosity, are your 720 and 550 on different application versions?

Sorry, I hope that's a rhetorical question. I just download FF and then add NoScript.

Anita, If I click on the words I get that too but when I click on the little book Icons to the left of the words in the margin, the links work.
EDIT - And then, bizarrely, this is reversed in the sub-menus ; the words work but the "question mark" icon's do not.

They're both running 9.430 as supplied via TTHome
