Which Sat Navs Are Available With World Maps

I am looking for a sat nav with world mapping.
I have found the TomTom 1005 World which is available at a good price from Amazon.
Are there any others available to compare it with??

That depends what you mean by "World" mapping!
No sat nav has the whole world covered, the two main mapping companies (NavTeq and TeleAtlas) who are used by most of the main satnav brands simply haven't covered everywhere yet, and probably never will.

If you look on the TeleAtlas or Navteq websites, they may give you an idea of how much they have go covred, but don't expect them to shout from the rooftops where they DON'T have mapped!

Alternatively, if you go to the TomTom or Garmin websites, they will show you what countries they have maps available for - which will be a smaller sub-set of the total that the mapping companies have created.

Also, be careful of marketting hype. I think TomTom are being a BIT naughty when they call their new models "World" editions, when large chunks of the world are not on them....




I haven't checked whether that includes every map that TomTom do, or if other areas are available to buy for it.
