I have just been reminded of the renewal for my Live Services. The email takes me to a French page to renew (!!!) - not a problem since my French is good BUT the offer is in Euros at €49.95. By my reckoning at a tourist exchange of 1.20 that's about £41.50 - yet via TT web site it's £47.95. If I was to buy in Euros with my debit card then my bank would calculate at a better rate than 1.20 (it doesn't charge any further for purchases in Euros) thus making it even cheaper!!! It doesn't make any difference where I buy the Live Services even though the major use will be in UK ....... does it??? |

I remember trying to buy something that way from TomTom before and at the last stage of the check out it added VAT at not the then 17.5 % UK rate.
It would be interesting if it works as my Live Services have run out this week and need renewing. _________________ Drivelux |

Update - signed in this am, retrieved the email and was directed to the French pages again. Clicked to continue with the order and was asked to sign in again, which I did. Was then informed that my account was registered in GB and I could register for another account with a new email address etc (but which would still be in GB!!!) or go to the GB pages! I go to the GB pages and am asked to pay £47.50 instead of €49.95. Is this another example of rip-off Britain?? I'll try the TomTom customer services on Monday, I think!! |

From the UK you could open a Yahoo! mail account for almost any continent in the world. me@yahoo.com, me@yahoo.fr, me@yahoo.au, etc. just start the process at yahoo.com, .fr or .au. But I'd suggest choosing a country that has the same Live services content as the UK i.e. NOT Spain. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599
