Ive owned navigon devices in the past but have deceided to try tomtom. What I like about the navigon is the text to speech addon. (gives road names). Is there any kind of addon for tomtom devices? Can I buy the updated maps anywahere else apart from tomtom themselves? I dont mean pirated or anything like that, I mean off here or other GPS forums/sites? Thanks in advance guys, any help with this will be very much appreciated

Any device that has "TTS" (text-to-speech) will give you that and maps can only be bought/downloaded direct from TT themselves

Hi TudorBlue, When you buy a TomTom and start using it you get 90 days to download the latest map(s) from TomTom. These maps should keep you on the right road for at least a year and probably longer before having to buy new maps.

However, if you are going on holiday to countries that your TT does not already have the maps for, you shall have to buy these maps direct from TomTom and download them to your SatNav.

It is a lot cheaper to buy the SatNav with the required maps already installed than to buy a basic SatNav and then buy extra maps.

EDIT - Some spelling edited by Ali.
