What browser do you use? Have you tried a different one?

I've had confirmation from a tester for TomTom that the Mac version of MyTomTom still cannot handle the zip-file method.

But I can't understand why you are having problems with the Windows version.

Also, it's known that Internet Explorer cannot select multiple files at once but just about every other browser can. In Windows its done with a click on the first then shift-click on the last (or ctrl-click on individual ones).

I don't know what you do on a Mac, but he mentioned that to select ALL the files in a directory it's cmd-a.

I don't want to seem unkind, but I don't think there is going to be any "news" as such.
As no-one else is having the problem you're having it's pretty hard for us to investigate. You'll have to do some more experiments yourself.

It might be useful to summarise your current situation... I'll try, but it would be better if you can do the same.

1. You have access to BOTH a a PC and a Mac. We know that the zip file "all-in-one go" method will not work on a Mac, but it will on a PC.
So what is stopping the zip upload on the PC? What is generating the error message? MyTomTom?
The error message says you need to unzip first. If you do, what files do you find? Are they ONLY .ov2 .bmp and .ogg?

2. We know that on a PC, Internet Explorer cannot select lots of files at once, but all the other common browsers can.
MyTomTom calls up your default browser, are you successfully changing it?
Try them again. Uninstall them completely using something like Revo Uninstaller rather than just the normal uninstall, and re-install. We KNOW it works, we don't know what you have in your particular set-up that's stopping it.
Do the same for MyTomTom.. uninstall it completely with Revo and reinstall.

3. We also know other users can select and load a large number of files all together on the Mac. So if you cannot... there has to be something stopping YOUR computer doing it successfully.
However, as there are undoubtedly more PC users on this forum, it might be better to concentrate on the PC for now, just to keep the discussion simpler.

4. I know that a PC needs the "Dot Net" framework installed for TomTom "Home" to work properly, maybe the same is true for MyTomTom. It's that sort of thing you need to be investigating.

5. Finally, you say that adding the files individually is not an option.... Why not?

Yes it's a pain when you know you should be able to do it all in one go, but hundreds of Internet Explorer users must have been doing that every week.
After the first installation, it's only 25 files to update each week, even if you opt for the largest/most expanded version of the database.

At least it would get you up and running while you investigate where your other problems may be coming from.

I'm not trying to fob you off, but we are limited in what we can do from this end when we don't have access to your set-up. But we're here to bounce ideas off if you can come up with any.

I took that as referring to trying the MyTomTom Zip format and not the individual file upload option.

OK, I am using a Tomtom BLUE and ME 2. I am using Windows bootcamp on a Mac with an Apple keyboard.

OK, in all browsers in MAC and WIndows (I own many macs and PC's in my company and have tired it on more than one machine.) With the zip file it say " Unzip file before installing PIO's.)

Done all of the above....Chrome, Safari, Firefox and IE on Mac and PC

I cannot select all files at once!! Treid many configs on keyboard.

Because if it works for there, it must work for me...And there are other databases that require you to install only two files... Unfortunately I paid for this one and I would out of choice, like to use this more comprehensive database.

On a Mac: When it brings up the Finder window you need to hold down the Command (Apple) key and click on each file that you want. This will allow you to select multiple files. Or do Command+A to select all.

In Windows: Basically the same as the above but you need to hold CTRL and click each file. Or do CTRL+A to select all.

Another possible issue... Does the 'Blue & Me' use 'standard' TomTom NAV3 software or is it that heavily customised that things like POIs don't work as we would expect?

Sadly the info pages don't go into detail: http://www.tomtom.com/en_gb/products/built-in-car-navigation/blume-tomtom-alfaromeo/

Is it basically a rebranded GO 1000 or a whole new beast?

Sheesh... that's a lot of extra potential problems. Trying to get it sorted on a simple Windows PC first would cut down the variables.

Did you try my suggestion there?
What files do you get if you unzip it manually? Are they JUST .ov2, .bmp and .ogg, or are there any other file types in there?

lupetto wrote:

That can be done here too. There is the "consolidated by type" version with only five camera types, or there is a "single" file" version - that would involve just one .ov2 and one .bmp.
Unfortunately, it was decided to drop that version in ov2 format, but it can still be downloaded in one of the other formats such as .csv and converted back to .ov2 using shareware programs such as POIEdit.

That's why I've asked lupetto to install any one of the file sets (ov2.bmp.ogg) manually to make sure that works.
