the main 'default' map is named gmapprom.img and will be the prominent map other maps have to be in the right folder (device\.System or SDCard\Garmin\maps or something like that) and can be called "anything".img and stored on the SD or the device, space allowing.
I think you should format the card via the device rather than vista. |

Re-formatted microSD while in Garmin device and no map showing.
This is what I wrote above, when it worked for me earlier in the week. Now it doesnt.
========================
"Under map info settings on the Nuvi device, it shows two maps showing with a green checkmark:
CN Europe NT 2012.30 (this is in black bold type)
(1)Sankt Polten, Osterrecih, Wien, Oster (this is greyed out)
(2)Western Europe (this is in black bold type)
CN North America NT 2012.30 (this is in black bold type)
(1) US & Canada (this is greyed out)
and with the micro SD card removed, it shows:
CN Europe NT 2012.30 (this is in black bold type)
(1)Western Europe (this is greyed out)
CN North America NT 2012.30 (this is in black bold type)
(1) US & Canada (this is greyed out) " |

Just in case anyone else is reading this the correct folder on the SD card for maps with the latest nuvis is I:\Map, not I:\Garmin\Maps (substitute whatever letter is correct in place of I)
How you format the card is immaterial, but it must be formatted as FAT32. |

At the last stage of downloading to device with Mapinstall, a box pops up saying complete or something -with an "OK" button, when I push that, it doesn't allow me to push "Finish" as the directions at the top of the page say you should. (The program closes when I push "OK")[/u] |

Dear
Thank you for contacting Garmin International. The nuvi 1370 may not have enough space on the internal memory for the full coverage maps of both North America and Europe so it will be necessary to run the map update and choose the map regions that you want on the internal memory and make sure to use Install Options to update maps on both the unit and the computer then use map install to send the remainder of the maps to the SD card. The best way to check for maps that are on the internal memory will be to remove the SD Card from the unit then power it on and look at Map Info to make sure that it shows some North America and some Europe Maps on the internal memory. Then you can run Mapinstall to send the remainder of the maps. Please reply to this e-mail with any questions.
With Best Regards,

Don't be worried by the Sankt Polten in mapinfo. It is not just a single tile. There is a bug in modern editions of Mapsource and Mapinstall where they seem to pick a single tile name for the whole map set. I have had the same title when I have selected as much of Europe as will fit on my nuvi 660 in one single chunk when updating. Early versions of Mapsource allowed us to give a selection of multiple tiles a name of our choice but that facility disappeared years ago. Check the flle size of gmappsup and you can see it is more than a single tile. AFAIK you can only have one supplementary map on any card and trying to rename will cause the renamed file to become unrecognised. I think that you can have a gmapsupp on the device AND one on the card. |
