I have had a problem with a TomTom ONE v3 that I purchased back in 2005. It is now used on a very infrequent basis by my wife. When we switched it on the other day we got an error saying it could not load the map.

I went on to the TomTom website and started a Chat Now session with a support person. We tried one or two things which did not work but then I was left to try some other things which would take a while so we ended the Chat Now session. Within a few minutes I received an email giving a transcript of the chat with a link to add further details. This I did when again what I was asked to try did not work.

I then got a further email from support asking for me do to a System Information download from the ONE and giving detailed instructions. I set this off to them and again very quickly another email came back telling to do four different steps, the last of which was to download a replacement map via TomTom HOME. Once this was done every thing was up and running again.

The support was very good and very straight forward, much better than I've had in the past from other organisations both at home and at work. We often complain when we get poor service and support that it is nice to be able to say that I got what I consider to be first class service from TomTom.
