The case I can see for tweeting your journey info (not getting updates, but sending out) is where you can "automatically" keep people "informed" about your progress. So I'd set off, and it would auto-tweet "Matthew has started his journey, ETA 11.20". As I approached, it would tweet again, and say "Matthew is about 10 minutes from arriving, ETA 11.10". And then "Matthew has arrived at his destination, 11.12".

Now, the only issues I have about this are that if I was on my way to my mother's, she'd never see it because she isn't on twitter. And if I was travelling on business, I'd not want them to know about my travels because the appointment isn't until 12.30 so now I look like a dork sitting in the car park for an hour as I left to make sure I got there in time. Heck, I've stopped for lunch at services within 5 mins of my target so I can be spot on.

The other small issue is that I read my twitter feed about 12 hours late, because I want to read it all. Thus anyone coming to visit me I'd see their journey progress after the fact. I can't imagine many business people sitting watching their twitter feed to see my arrival - they'd be too busy.

I suspect that the main users who would appreciate this would be people on their way to a pub somewhere, where the crowd could laugh at their traffic troubles while sipping pints. Well worth making it happen for that.

As long time user myself ...I also don't see the point of this ..I would prefer what others have already said about getting original products working correctly rather than add new junk that will also not work ..GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
If they keep this up a lot of users are going to vote with their feet & move to other pnd's ,as I have noticed some of them are now getting rather good
