|
|
I'm considering going for a 3790T but everytime I've played with one in store, it never seem to show POI's when navigating. Is this normal? The sales guy said that Garmins (and the 3790) doesn't show ang POIs when driving because "no one wants to see them and be distracted".
I'd like to see petrol stations etc when I'm driving so is this possible on the 3790?
Any help would be appreciated! |

Don't know about the 3790, but my nuvi shows POIs OK, depending on the zoom level. Try zooming in a notch or two.
They are certainly not distracting, as they are off to the sides of the road.
Any comments from 3790 owners?

When you slow to a stop then the POIs will be visible. The only way to show them all e time is to add them via POI Loader but give them a proximity warning. They will show on the map then all the time. The downside is they will also beep at you whenever you pass...

are you referring to the built-in POIs or ones installed yourself using POI Loader?

Can anyone with a 3790 chime in?
I'm wondering if there's something wrong with my device!
Please help! |

Thanks MaFt, I eventually figured this out but even the custom ones don't show up until you've zoomed in so far that practically nothing else is visible on screen. OK, i've exaggerated a little but you do have to be zoomed in about 2 clicks away from maximum zoom!
Even then it's not selectable or searchable so all you see is a minute icon that you furiously peck at to no avail.
WTF? |

tap the map to go to the overhead view then you can select the icon from there and it should give the name of it - you can then select 'go'?

Hmmm..
Actually the Custom POIs on my 3790 don't show up at all, no matter what the magnification. The only time that you can see the icon is when you've selected the POI in the list in Extras - Custom POI section and by then, you know what it is because you've already selected it!!
Can you actually browse your map and see the custom POI's? |

I've been following this thread with some interest as my 3760 doesn't display any POI's either, (Custom or Garmin) at any magnification, but I thought it was down to settings.
