Hi everyone, I am new to the Forum and have just bought a Nuvi 2300T to replace my Tom Tom Start which failed with corrupted map errors after only 15 months.

Not sure if I have made a mistake though, although it looks very impressive there are a couple of major things I do not like about it and wonder if anybody else has can help me !!

Firstly on the Tom Tom it would always give me (very accurate) arrival times for reaching my destination. The Garmin is miles out, it said I was 4 minutes from home when I was at the end of my street !!!
I have had a quick look in the Forums and it is stated that this should put itself right when I have used it a few times. I hope so because it is very inaccurate at the moment.

The second problem I have is much more serious, in that the screen is very unresponsive, especially at the top and bottom and on the alphabet keyboard.
Sometimes I have to hold the screen several millimetres above the icon to get the "blue accept bar" and it is a nightmare typing anything manually onto the keyboard because if I pick (for example) the number 6 it puts in the letter y below it. I have tried the reconfiguration method and it works for one attempt but when I power up next time it just goes back to the poor display previously.
In fact on the key board when typing in a city name , if I make a mistake I cannot even use the delete key (the X in a rectangle at the top right of the screen) because I cannot get a fix on this tab at all.

Very disappointed with my purchase and wonder if anybody else has come across these problems.

Mant thanks !!

Paul

Quick answer is no. I contribute regularly on Garmin forums and your experience isn't typical, I suspect you may have a faulty one. Take it back where you got it from and show them the problem, you should get a replacement.

ETA on mine for example is generally good, and certainly more accurate (as it should be) the closer I get to my destination. While it's true that the nuvi 'learns' this is simply to allow it to be more accurate with the ETAs it gives you on route, it shouldn't be 4 minutes out once you're so close to home.
