It came back to life on my 550 some time this afternoon (travelling from Sheerness to Bristol).

Whatever you do, do NOT fall for TT hype!

What do you mean? The need for a new device? And it works fine on a 550?

Yes, HD traffic works fine on a 550 (better, in fact, than a new 1000/1005).

Grrrrrr.......

Been to Worksop and back today, no HD Traffic at all.

Coming home at about 5pm, still no HD Traffic.

Just tried now, it seems to be back.

The response from TT support was the usual garbage about performing a factory reset etc as apparently all my LIVE services were not working, although I made it crystal clear that Weather and Google Search were working fine, it was just HD Traffic that was affected. I even pointed out that they had posted a notice on their support pages that it was down due to a technical issue, but as usual in the world of TT, it must be me and my device that are at fault as TT never get anything wrong.

If anyone has a 1000 and an older LIVE device, can they just check something for me please.

I can only see traffic incidents as far away as Burton-on-Trent from my home in Rossendale at the moment. I am convinced that I used to be able to see the roadworks on the M6 around Corley Services when sat in my drive before.

So, the question is, has this outage been TT re-jigging the HD-Traffic coverage range for the older devices to be in line with the newer ones, ie shorter range?????

Perhaps if someone with both devices can confirm or deny this at rush hour tomorrow?

Maybe I am just cynical ..........

No, the range on my 750 is just the same as always (so I get the roadworks which are 65 to 80 miles away - the ones the 1005 wouldn't display at home).

I didn't have any traffic incidents today (this afternoon after it came back to life, that is) so I can't comment. But in the recent past my experience with the 550 has been they reduced it to about 50 miles. There's a thread somewhere in which I recorded simultaneous status (statuses/stati?) of 520T, Carminat (RDS-TMC via van radio antenna) and 550 Live and that showed only 50 miles for the 550 - the 520 and Carminat showed stuff at greater distance, then the 550 reported it at 50 miles.

Get that traffic sorted out tonight please Andy - I've got a run to Manchester tomorrow, leaving Bristol about 8am.

Weird - I have no incidents shown south of Nottingham on the M1 at the moment, with a route planned to central London. What can you see south of Nottingham down the M1 towards Luton?

According to my device, the furthest south incident I can see on the browse map is 56 miles away. If I plan a route to a point on the M1 just south of the incident, it isn't shown in the traffic bar, so my traffic bar is not showing incidents just less than 60 miles radius away. If I go to look at the incidents on my route, it is shown. The incident at J25 is shown on the browse traffic map function, my route goes straight through this, but it is not shown on the sidebar but is shown on the show traffic on route incidents.

Looks like I am limited to about 50 miles for displaying on the sidebar and being taken into account on the total route time, even though the data is on the device.

Sound familiar??? Like a 1000???

And according to the TT Fuel prices, Diesel is £1.22 a litre somewhere on my route. I wish!!

Laughing Out Loud

Shame I am at work at about 11am or I would be on the M6 marshalling traffic for you so you had a clear run Dennis :-)

Would have been nice if Tomtom had put a notice on the support page to say HD Traffic was working again Razz Would have been even nicer if they had said why it was out of action....

Somebody remind me please, how to check fuel prices. It's so long since I turned it off I can't seem to get it to do anything now - I've been into Home and downloaded them. Then I go to Live Services and tap Fuel Prices and all it does is tell me I can join, not where there is any fuel.

Remember, in the world of TT, end users are always wrong, know nothing about how the devices work, and have to jump through pointless hoops before TT will admit the fault might be at their end.....

Just checked this morning, and I can only see incidents as far away as I could last night. According to my device, there are no traffic incidents at all further south than Nottingham area - apparently none at all around Birmingham on the M6.

I am convinced it used to cover Birmingham before commencing a route before........
