Hi

Not sure if I'm being dumb here but I can't seem to find a way to set alerts for just some POI sets on my Nuvi 1490T.

Basically what I want to do is :-
- Put the latest PGW Speed Cameras on, and have voice alerts
- Put the PGW Congestion Charge POI set on, and have voice alerts
- Copy my old iQue waypoints into a POI set, without alerts
- Put some other PGW POI sets on, without alerts

So far I've :-
- Downloaded the latest PGW Speed Camera set, in POILoader format, grouped by type, with MP3 female voice. Note to the admins, POILoader throws up errors with the WAV files in the WAV format sets.
- Run POILoader, selected "Save on computer", and the PGW set, which produced a .gpi file
- Downloaded the Congestion Charge POI set, run it through POILoader, and produced a second .gpi file
- Plugged in the Nuvi, used Windows file manager to copy the two .gpi files to /POI on the Nuvi
- Rebooted the Nuvi

So now if I go to "Where To|Extras|Custom POIs" then I see :-
- pocketgps_uk_gatso
- pocketgps_uk_mobile
- pocketgps_uk_pmobile
- pocketgps_uk_redlight
- pocketgps_uk_specs
- London_Congestion_Charge_PGPSW

If I go to Tools|Settings|Proximity Points|Alerts" then I see two problems :-
- The Only option under "Change" is for Custom POIs, no individual option, whereas the Cyclops sample data had its own option
- I have "Custom POIs" ticked and "Single Tone", but I'm not getting alerts.

What am I doing wrong to stop me getting alerts, and is there no way to have alerts on some POI sets and not others ?

Thanks

Does the 1490T have an MP3 player? If not then it won't play mp3 as the audio warning.

You need to use the WAV version.

Does the error say something about not having 'sox.eve' installed? I think POILoader needs that file for it to use the WAV files - I'll check whether it needs to be int eh POI folder itself or in the same folder as the POILoader exe file.

The Garmin alerts are either all on or all off. For files without proximity data (any @30, @40 @XX) in the individual entries then you will not get any alert whether or not you have the proximity alerts turned on for custom pois.

We will, in the near future, create and post some installation guides for the voice files...!

Hope that helps a bit?

OK, for using WAV files with POILoader you need to have sox.exe in C:\Garmin\ folder.

It can be downloaded from here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/sox/files/sox/14.3.2/

Not sure where the sox software needs to go for Mac version though - or even if it is needed.... gonna have to get some testing done...!

OK, I've just run POILoader on the Mac with WAV files and it doesn't need the sox stuff.

Must just be a Windows issue

And, if you should find that PoiLoader has installed itself in C...Program Files...Garmin...PoiLoader, then that is where sox.exe needs to go.
