hi
i own a tomtom ONE IQ routes uk and europe. very pleased with it but it is now 2 years old and rather than update maps would rather sell it and buy a replacement.
i like the compactness of it, am not overly bothered about a widescreen display or hands free phone calls. the thing that intrigues me is the traffic feature on the live models.
1. is it worth having? ( i drive in and around london every day as a sales agent)
2. how much does it cost after the 1st year free? is there mobile calls to pay for other than the subscription charges (for the unit to retrieve up dated info)?
3. can it be purchased without having to have their other services ie camera database (i much prefer pgpsw for this)
4. which model specifically would be best for me to look at?
if any other manufacturers models better meet my criteria i am open to suggestions.
many thanks
tony.

1. Yes, it is worth having in my opinion.
2. £47.50 although it can sometimes be bought cheaper elsewhere. There is no added phone call cost to pay on top. I think there is a vodafone sim card inside the tom-tom unit.
3. Yes.
4. I have the 1005 but there are several models compatible with traffic, no doubt others here will offer you their opinion and in many cases that will be a knowledgable opinion but take a look at the tom-tom web site. Consider you budget, take a good luck at what catches your eye and once you've decided on your model make sure you shop around. There is a difference in price depending on retailer. Good luck.

thanks for reply pete.
just seen this on tomtom site:

http://www.tomtom.com/en_gb/products/tomtom-outlet-store/xl-live-iq-routes-refurbished/#tab:highlights

not clear from their site but do you think this would come with a latest map guarantee or could the map be a little outdated?
it seems good value considering the 1 year free live services that would normally cost £45ish.

To be honest I'm unsure as to whether a refurb would come bundled with a LMG. You could either email / call them or wait for another forum user to answer that point. The latter is probably the quicker option than getting an email response from TT.

Nope refurbs don't come with LMG.

I bought a refurbished 750 last week (see post in the thread about cheap 550s) and it came with an almost 2 year old map - but since I'd already bought the latest map on a 720 they swapped it for mee.

No promises though.

The maps are normally the same maps that the SatNav was returned to TT with so, yes, they could be several months/years old. You could try emailing tomtom saying that you are considering buying a refurb TT or Garmin or Navi?? and asking them if their refurbs come with LMG. If they are wise they shall say "YES", if so, keep the email safe and remind them after the purchase.
