Entering Umlauts in Telmap on the BB ?

Maybe, a silly question, but,
I cannot enter umlauts when searching for a destination or anything else on the blackberry 9700.

I currently overcome this, by creating an empty mail or other text document, writing the umlauts and then do a copy & paste in to Telmap.

For sure, there is an easier way, but, I am blind (?)

Maybe, the question is not simple ?

I can enter an "ö" as "oe" etc. etc., but the search results differ from what happens if I enter the name of a location correct.
