Files on SD card

Hi all

I have a large number of files on my SD card and I am not exactly sure what they are.........

Formats are

2010-07-17_0536 172mi Raw.gpx
2010-07-17 _0536 172 mi.map

Any ideas why these appear and are they safe to delete.

Also thought I would see the files for the maps which came on the card. Remember they were very large but seem to not be shown.

Hi Mike,

The files you refer to are the records of tracks followed by the SatNav on the dates contained in the file name. So if you don't want to save those records you are free to delete them. The .gpx file is the large and detailed original of the track and the .map is the cleaned up summary that SatSync will select if you want to copy the file off to a .gpx format.

Can't remember what they have done with the map files on the card at the moment (and have not got the device to hand to check) but if you stick to deleting the files of the format you describe you will be safe.

If in doubt copy the whole SD card to your PC. Delete from the SD card and then if anything goes wrong you can restore.

The large map .map files were hidden within Satsync with a recent update as folk kept deleting them by mistake
