Hi, I am in the process of buying a new Vauxhall Antara SE Nav. The handbook states that it is possible to input user warning POI's. My question is do Pocket GPS World support it or will it be supporting the speed camera alerts for this system. The system is called (Opel) Touch & Connect.

On reading the manual the following format is required;

9.0695200,49.2109400,"[74906] 24h Autohof Wilhelm-Hauff Strasse 43 [Bad Rappenau]"
10.0017300,49.9118000,"[97262] 24h Autohof Am Wiesenweg 11 [Hausen]"
11.4743100,49.3133300,"[92348] 24h Autohof Ludwig-Erhard Ring 2 [Berg]"
11.3043500,51.4503900,"[06526] 24h Autohof Am Mittelfeld 5 [Sangerhausen]"
8.6631400,48.3435400,"[72189] 24h Autohof Eythstrasse 16 [Vöhringen]"
12.1354100,49.5327900,"[92533] 24h Autohof Keplerstrasse 1 [Wernberg-Köblitz]"
9.0070900,50.1818100,"[63526] 24h Autohof Röntgenstrasse 1 [Erlensee]"
12.7067900,51.2611900,"(04720)) Autohof Muldental; Am Heiterer Blick 2; LPG (Groß Weitzschen)"
8.2680400,49.9996000,"Tankstellen"
7.1182200,51.6846800,"Rainer Müller"

Sorry that the language is German.

If you recognise this format as one supplied by PocketGPSworld please let me know.

It looks like a standard CSV or ASC File.

You might need to experiment with whether it needs a 'header' or not. Use the Free POIs on this site (they have both CSV and ASC variants), to see which is the better.

Does the Manual give any indication on how many such Files it can handle? Or does it load all POI locations into one large File?

Hi Oldboy,

This is what the manual states;

1. In the root directory of a USB
drive: create a folder
named "myPOIs",
e.g. "F:\myPOIs", where "F:\" is
the root directory of the USB drive.
2. In the "myPOIs" folder, store the
text file with destination POIs,
e.g. "F:\myPOIs
\TomsDestinationPOIs.asc".
3. In the folder "myPOIs" create a
subfolder
named "myPOIWarnings".
4. In that subfolder store the text file
with POI warnings,
e.g. "F:\myPOIs\myPOIWarnings
\TomsPOIWarnings.asc"

As to the amount of POI;s I have read somewhere that it is in the region of 15,000

It would appear that you can have only 1 POI File, as a Destination File, and another File that handles Warnings, such as Speed Cameras.

For Speed Cameras you would need to use Other - ASC and, as there's no mention of it, delete the first line - which is the header - and place it in the POI Warnings Folder.

How it would best announce a Warning would need further experimenting.

For use with 'ordinary' POIs, the POI file would need to go in the MyPOIs Folder
