If you want Traffic on the non Live version of the 750 (assuming you can even purchase it from the UK) then you use an RDS-TMC receiver, to be honest I would go for the Live version which comes with 12 months free Live services including the HD traffic and way up whether you think its worth paying for a subscription over the 12 month period, if you like it pay up, if not don't pay or possibly purchase an RDS-TMC receiver - Mike |

I think if you want rds-tmc on an x50 you have to purchase a live dock - £60 ish? _________________ Mike R [aka Wyvern46]

I've got an RDS RX it was about as useful as mud flaps on a totoise. I already have a 750 brought through TT in December in the UK. I just wondered what I needed to do to make it have HD traffic as if it were a 750 live. Is there any fundermental hardware difference between the 2 models or are they one and the same? _________________ GO 750 LIVE v9.430 - v8.753612 EU map

The USB on the RDS-TMC (mine was £18 new on ebay) plugs in series with the USB power lead to the supplied dock. Never found it much use though.
You can also buy a dock with one built in as you suggested. _________________ Drivelux |

Does your device have a SIM card space on the bottom of the case?

The non-Live 750 model was sold in most Countries in Europe (apart from France, Germany, UK and Portugal that had the Live version). In some Countries it was the Traffic version, i.e. with the active dock including the ROD-TMC.
The "plain" version was meant mainly for Eastern Europe where there was no RDS-TMC service nor Live coverage, but recently it was made available even in UK via the refurb store and some dealers (unsold stock?).
It's not possible to transform it in a Live device since, besides the sim card, the entire GSM module is missing.
In the past and for a brief period Tomtom was selling (only in Netherlands) an external Live adapter but it's not available any more.

The USB Rds-TMC is not compatible with the recent Navcore versions for the x50 models. You must use the active dock version. |

As others have said, the non-Live version of the Go750 wasn't usually sold in the UK. If you bought it direct from TomTom only a few months ago, I think you might have a good case for sending it back as "not what you were expecting". Worth a try??
Out of interest, what are the first 2 characters of your serial number? (usually it's on the barcode label on the base). |

I was looking at the outlet store for several weeks before getting the 550 Live, and have a memory of there being both 750 and 750 Live for sale. It stuck in my mind because the non-Live version was the same price as the 550. _________________ Mike R [aka Wyvern46]

Assuming you have working bluetooth on your device and a compatible mobile phone, is the standard TomTom traffic over GPRS an option here as on the x30 range? I am not sure if the x40/50 software supports it. _________________ Drivelux |

I'll take a look at the serial number later when I get home, and post back later.
It does not have a slot for a sim on the bottom, just the SD card.
I thought it strange when I got it there wasnt any English voices installed, so I had to learn an eastern european language very quickly or install some English voices, I went for the latter. _________________ GO 750 LIVE v9.430 - v8.753612 EU map

The first part of the serial number is W71 - What can you deduce from that I wonder? _________________ GO 750 LIVE v9.430 - v8.753612 EU map

Go-750 2GB is what the TomTom web site thinks you have got, try entering the first two digits on This Page - Mike |
