HI-303E CF Problem

I've just bought a new IPAQ 2210 and a 303E CF receiver, but I can't get the receiver to track anything.

Symptoms are no LED on the receiver - it briefly glows red when I insert the receiver into the IPAQ, but then it goes out and stays out - and nothing tracked/no fixes at all in Haicom's GPS Information software, although it does say that the COM4 is on. Don't know if its relevant, but the bluetooth indicator on the IPAQ is flashing.

The receiver is plugges into the CF port of the IPAQ. I haven't configured it in any way - assumed it's plug and play?

Is it dead or is it me?

Try the following

Go into programs and open GPS (not gpsinfo) - click on the gps tab - check that the top drop down box says NMEA 0183v2 4800 and the next drop down box says CF_CARD Generic. check that there is a tick in the box on the left - if not click it. Now click the status tab and check if there is a dotted line moving on the left side between the sat icon and the screen icon If so make sure your gps can "see" the sky and wait for up to 45 mins for it to capture the sattelites (could take this long first time).

The red LED on the gps should be flashing. I'd switch bluetooth off but I don't think it matters.

Hope this helps - I'm no expert but it's worth a try! It works for me.

Am using 303e with tom tom 3 and a 2210. Have set gps to NMEA 0183v2 4800 CF_CARD GENERIC. This works after a while but is very hit and miss i have to insert the card it flashes twice take it out, reinsert maybe do a soft reset before this is picked up by the ipaq. Is there a straightforward works first time method anyone knows of? Once the ipaq picks it up I get a continuoss flashing red light and it works perfect.
