I have just purchased a Nuvi 1690 and used it today for the first time in a trip up the M1 past Nottingham. I have the proximity alerts switched on and as I reached the point on the M1 where the road works used to be passing Nottingham I got a warning about the 50mph variable speed limit cameras. Obviously these cameras have been gone for a while now, so I would like to remove them from the database, can someone explain if this is possible and how please? I have a quick butchers through the previous topics and could not see anything, so if I missed a previous post i appologise.

Cheers

Tony

If these are Garmin speed cameras then no, you can't manually edit them.

But, if you were to subscribe to our speed camera service, the data would be up to date - we have much better, more accurate, and more up to date speed camera data than the service Garmin use.

Feel free to peruse our submission map here. That should prove that our data is current, check the M1 roadworks cameras that are incorrect on your Garmin.

All done and signed up, just 1 question though,

I have downloaded both the UK and Euro databases, installed the UK one first, then changed the name from poi.gpi to UKpoi.gpi, then I loaded the Eur database and renamed that to Eurpoi.gpi. When I go the the proximity alerts settings on my nuvi, I just have the 1 Custom POI's option listed and ticked, is that correct or should I have 1 for UK and 1 for Eur?

Cheers

Tony

You should see two sets of categories. Browse to your device and confirm both .gpi files are still present.

I have renamed both gpi files so now I have eucams and ukcams still only 1 custom poi listing in settings but I am getting cameras showing up both in the UK and France so all appears well.

Iirc you will only see one Custom poi category regardless of how many GPI files you have loaded.

Really? The sticky suggests otherwise but I don't have a Garmin to test - You've got it Wink

Ah right. I did try it once seperating my non Speed Camera POIs from the Speed Camera POIs so i'm working from memory which is never a good idea in my case..... I think... Shocked
