I have just purchased a Tomtom Go 1000 UK. I also own a Tomtom one version 1.

When watching a demonstration of my route on my new Go 1000, I can only watch it in real time. Is it possible to speed up the demonstration?

I think it's impracticle to watch a journey of anything more than 10 minutes.

My Tomtom one v1 allows up to 500 times speed view.

If it is not possible does anyone know which version of the Tomtom first introduced real time only route demonstrations and if at that time anyone else complained or was dissapointed about it? Confused

Also is it possible to program multiple rules for the Tomtom to obey when it plans my route. for instance if I want to travel via a certain point I can but what if I want to travel via two certain points and avoid three different roads. Is it possible?

for those interested my map is uk v850.2827
app date is 13/9/10

For some stupid reason, the TomTom software developers decided that route demos on the 1000 and 1005 would only show at 100% with NO way to speed it up! Rolling Eyes

Further, to get the route to travel by more than one point requires Itinerary Planning --- which the 1000 doesn't offer as yet, if ever.

Nope

Introduced with the new platform for GO 100x and VIA.

That 'feature' was called Itinerary. I say 'was' as it has been dropped in the GO 100x and VIA.

But you can't say "Nope" with a decent British accent, so your answer doesn't carry the same authority. Laughing

Thanks for the quick replys.

I simply can't believe that such obvious details have been ignored on the latest flag ship models. It's absolutely outragous.

The sad thing is I've just been out with my 1000 and its a superb sat nav in action. Why oh why have they left out the essential small details.

I really hope they can sort this out and make the Go 1000 perfect.

Oh and they should also introduce voice activated voice control instead of press a button then speak, another obvious oversight. I should be able to say TOMTOM and then say my instruction. Also a downloadable list of possible voice instructions would be helpful, as far as I can tell the only place to find them is within the help file within the tomtom. I can't remember more than two if I'm lucky. The downloadable instruction manual refers me back to the Tomtom for the list! Unbelievable. Merry Xmas

Taken me a while to find the thread that contained the following quote, its got a list of voice commands but the same method used in the quote won't work for a Go-1K due to the hidden file system, still its a list to start with:

mikealder wrote:
The list of commands is stored in the commandsENG.ctx file which you can open with notepad, scroll to the bottom of the text file and you will find them all spread over three or four lines, the file is loacted in the ASR folder on the device.

To save you the hastle of messing around with it though:

There might be others that aren't on the list so it might be an idea to sit down with the device and tick off the ones it does support and add the ones it doesn't.

As a starter for ten it certainly won't like the Itinerary commands but feel free to try them you never know after all it is a TomTom Shocked

The Garmin 3790T is activated by a key word that you can select, in practice it works very well and certainly negates the need to prod the screen to initiate voice control - Mike

Will do Mike.

M8TJT~ I did say that I should be able to say TOMTOM to activate the voice control, I think that would work fine. Smile

Hmm, I just had a play with voice control on my (UK purchased) Go 1005 Europe, and you can't use voice control with French language selected. It complains that it needs a computer generated voice, and there isn't one Crying or Very sad

I've used the go 1000 UK and the Go 1000 Europe and both had a computer voice as the first option in the change voice part of the menu so I bet yours will be the same. It says something like Karen computer voice. I'm guessing at the Karen bit because I,ve not got my Tomtom handy at the moment.

I tried Karen, but she can't pronounce French for peanuts, and she doesn't understand either French or English commands when the language is sent to French.
