The only POI icon files that you can download in the correct format for the TomTom iPhone app are those contained in the download from page one of this thead.
If you want to use any of the other POI categories choose TomTom ov2 from the download selection, once you have your files modify the icon file in the way I described in my previous post - Mike |

Hi,
Would love to receive a copy of your mapsettings.cfg via email (frsnieders at yahoo.com) so that I would get alerts not only for the planned routes but also non-planned. Are the names of the icons and other files the same i.e. pocketgps_uk_XX? Or different? If different could you include the icons?
Thanks,
Frank
Hi Mike
Just reading your recent posts in this forum and thought I would share my experiences
I use a mapsetting.cfg file from an old TT GO Live 740 on my iPhone 4S, it works a treat!
I installed the OGG files and now get spoken warnings for the full database
I made a windows explorer copy of the TT GO Live 740 before it went to eBay and I now run that from a USB stick with TomTom Home.
It let me configure all the alerts and then I just copy the mapsettings.cfg file to the iPhone.[/quote] |

There is only one mapsettings.cfg file which is provided as an example as to what is possible and it is included in the zip download along with the icons and voice warning pack, there is a link for this in the first post within this thread.
As for producing other mapsettings files I don't have the time to create custom files as there are countless variations on what is possible to achieve, it sounds like you have a good handle on creating the necessary file though using the memory stick and TomTom Home - Mike |

Just saw your post from Frankman73 about making a Windows Explorer copy on a USB stick.
Can this be detailed on how to do this? As I would love to be able to do that rather than having to keep borrowing a PND unit? |

Sorry for the confusion: Something went wrong when I tried to quote adobbing who seems to have created the mapsettings.cfg file that I would like to have.
Regards,
Frank |

Frank
Have sent you a copy of the working mapsettings.cfg file.
Set to warn at 700 yards on the speed zoned complete versions of both the UK and Europe database.
Heaven forbid you upset the forum "quote" police by not following the correct procedure! |

adobbing, Saw Franks comment that he mentioned you as the person who has set-up TomTom on a Windows Explorer on a USB Stick.
Could you advise how to go about doing this? |

Really easy to do!
You just connect up your chosen TomTom PND to a PC then you click on windows explorer, it should show your TomTom device with a drive letter.
I then click on it and hit CTRL + C, then find somewhere on my PC's Hard Drive and click CTRL + V.
You then have a backed up copy of the TomTom device on your PC.
I then format a USB stick using windows and label it as "TOMTOM" or whatever your TomTom device showed up as.
Then you find where you have backed up the TomTom Device on your PC and click into that folder, highlight everything by clicking CTRL + A followed by CTRL + C, then paste this onto the USB stick using CTRL + V.
You should then have a working (on TomTom Home) copy of your TomTom device.
TomTom Home will try and ask you to log in to update, but I just hit cancel as I no longer have this device.
It appears that you don't need to be logged in to the linked TomTom account to use the TomTom Home simulator and use it to change things like warnings on the USB stick.
You can then copy and use the mapsettings.cfg file on your iPhone. |

Thanks for the details as this will make life so much easier than having to keep borrowing a PND |

Tomtom have blocked access to the documents folder on the latest version 1.11 tomtom w.europe.
So it seems they is absolutely no way of adding pgpsworld cameras onto there now. |

Not my experience, I updated to 1.11 on both iPhone 4s and iPad 3 and was able to paste in my backed up mapsettings.cfg file on both devices. |

I updated and pasted in all the required files using DiskAid.
Slight hiccup on getting Red Squares again but got around that too after a couple of re-boots of the iPhone |

Coming so late to this party!
DiskAid keeps telling me
"Error opening destination file (/Europe.app/Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB/pocketgps_uk_gatso_20_X2.png).
Close any other application on your device that may be locking this file."
All apps are closed in the 4s iOS6 beta4 and rebooted a coupe of times. trying this with the mac and PC version of diskAid.
Any ideas? |
