But I suppose if a file is not needed again, it's ok to delete it. And in this case, it's probably OK to do that. |

Looks great!
Running 'Camera Alert' in the background with TomTom on iPhone 4 does that display cameras on the map also in the same way or is this the only way to display camera sites on TomTom & iPhone?
Cheers

This is the only way to get PGPS cams on TomTom iPhone. _________________ Darren Griffin - Editor |

Thanks Darren, one last question! Is this database directional? Am I better off running Camera Alert & TomTom (simpler to update ect) or is this your prefered & recommended method now? |

TomTom has never supported direction for third party POI data so if that is important to you, stick with CA and run it in conjunction with TT. _________________ Darren Griffin - Editor |

Was this ever done Gents? I've taken a look this morning and can't see an Ipone specific download, has it been put on hold?

will get his done tomorrow.
i'm not happy with BMP files simply being renamed to PNG... Does it work with actual, real PNG files?
also, would it be feasible to offer a batch (.BAT) file to rename the BMP's?

As yet no. Until we can be sure that TomTom won't close the door on this in the next release there is little point in us offering a specific download.
All the files necessary have been provided in this thread. _________________ Darren Griffin - Editor |

I would expect to need a different mapsettings.cfg file for any new version of the TomTom iPhone app that is created using the same version of map as used by the next app, whether this will be v860 mapping who knows.
The other posibility is TomTom close the door so you can't see the file structure without Jail Breaking the iPhone, only time will give us answers if/ when the next version is released.
Needing the mapsettings.cfg file is not something normally offered with a PGPSW Speed Camera database download - Mike |

Looks like brain failure on my part as I double checked last night and the MapSettings.cfg file I'd taken from my wife's TomTom *was* capitalised. I took the original, removed the caps, and copied back. I lost all my favourites again, but all the favourites on my wife's device appeared instead, which does now suggest it's using it - curious really, because other files in that same directory have capital letters in them.
I'm still not convinced the cameras are working properly though, albeit not helped by TomTom's cameras. It seems like variable speed limit cameras are shown with the 70mph icon. Also I get a sound alert rather than spoken text.
What files do I need to move off the device to remove TomTom's cameras? |

Copy the following files to your PC then delete them from the map folder on the device:
Safety_Cam_TomTom.ov2
Safety_Cam_TomTom.ov2.dct
Safety_Cam_TomTomOv2.ver
As for making changes to the files loaded to the iPhone map folder for TomTom once you have made a change make sure the app isn't running in the back ground, any changes you make only take effect after the app has been restarted - Caught me out last night while trying a few changes to use larger icons, either power off the iPhone or ensure the app is fully shut down - Mike |
