My Nissan connect has an option to show current location. When activated it gives;
1/ The city/town and street name
2/ The lat/long postition

It also gives what the manual states is the number of satelites in range. I do not think the manual is correct as this is given as a number (sometimes in the hundreds) followed bt feet e.g. 85 FT. I do not think there is that number of satelites. Have contacted Nissan but they can not explain what this feature. Any ideals?

I'm not sure if the Nissan Connect is correct or not but according to the NASA website http://www.nasa.gov/worldbook/artificial_satellites_worldbook.html "about 3,000 useful satellites and 6,000 pieces of space junk are orbiting Earth" so it could be correct.

How on earth would the nissan know about these. Another theory (mine, and just a guess) is that it could be a measure of the the accuracy of the lock, or how about height.

I'm sure your right, judging by some of the routes it plans I don't think it knows where any of the satellites are!
