Hi all, i have a Go live 550 which I heavily rely on for work, I have low bridges set as POI's because I drive a 10'8" van while at work other day near Woking my drop was about 5 minutes from my previous one, while on my way it warned me of a low 9'9" bridge, pulled over, re-routed set off again 5 minutes later it pops up again warning me of another low bridge! so in the end by looking at the map i had to do a 30 minute detour through Woking at rushour traffic, so is it possible to set up certain POI's to avoid or give me a choice to either avoid or not (Depending which van iam driving in the week) this way it would have saved me a good 30-40 mins detour Wink Wink

The TomTom doesn't support "Avoid POI" its something we have been asking for for years but they seem to be rather deaf to this request.

As you have found warning you of such a POI can prove to be a real PITA, have you considered setting the distance to much further and make sure its "Warn only if POI on Route" is selected, this way you will get warnings before you have to turn around down a dirt track - Mike

Yup, I have set it to only warn if on route and have set it to a 1000 yard warning too Laughing Laughing

Still not ideal but the workaround I used to use was

Plan your route and then Browse Map Of Route. On the map display screen select Find, Point Of Interest, POI along route. This will at least show you any low bridges that are on your route. You can then manually avoid them using the find alternative option if necessary or just drive around them if you can see a viable detour.

It is not ideal but is one way of doing it, I am sure others may have different solutions.

Difficulty with this is Mark is apparently doing multi-drop which doesn't lend itself to the browse and detour solution.

This can easily done in iGO (manually) by blocking roads with the low bridges. It will then optimise a multi drop route around the blocks Very Happy Can't this be done in TT?

Yes, you can "Avoid part of route - High Street", then go do another and another. But it's questionable as to how feasible it is on multidrop.

If you rely on it that heavily, Mark, maybe you should look at investing in one of the TomTom "Work" models with the dedicated "Track" maps.

Low bridge avoidance IS a feature in that system, but TT refuse to implement it in the ordinary consumer models.
