Speed camera database

I have used a Tom Tom for some years now and regularly update the speed camera database from this site and found it easy to install the updates.
I am now thinking of buying a Garmin nuvi. Can anyone tell me if it is as easy to update the Garmin a sit was the Tom Tom?

It's very easy - just point the POILoader software at the files. I have never owned a Tom Tom so cannot compare them though.

It depends which Garmin you go for! The 37xx series it can be a nightmare to get them in.

It's OK once you've sussed out how to do it though. Hopefully the next firmware update will make the 37xx series's glitches disappear and make it easier to install the camera database.

The best way seems to be to copy the existing POI folder on the Garmin 37xx series on to your computer as a backup, then delete the POI folder & replace it with a folder called POI, that way you can say for sure that the folder is completely empty.

Then use POILoader to install the cameras to the POI folder & it seems to work when you activate the Custom POIs.

The other method is to save them to a memory card via POILoader (it usually creates a folder garmin/poi), which seems to have the same result.

You can only use the 24x24 Icons with the databases, if you use the 44x44 ones then they just appear as a small blue dot.
