what is the iphone tt app like ,I was thinking of going down that route rather than buy the 1000

It's OK but not as good (IMO) as Navigon. If you add the in-app panorama view, traffic and UK PostCode options it's a very capable app with a lovely UI that works very well on the iPhone.

thank you
as a tomtom user from tomtom 2 right though till now I have never looked at or even tried out another unit so am blind as a bat as to what else is good out there ,I do like my own poi's as I visit multiple place every day in and around London I can never remember where they are a few months down the line + this sites cameras are well ...we all know that answer ....
I'll have to go along and try and find a unit or find a demo somewhere

At the risk of:

1. becoming a laughing stock
2. struck off the membership

Will PGPSW be getting a production model to review? I can't let go of this slight hope that production models will be better than the pre-production ones. I'm attached to my TTs and know them so well, don't want to be forced to change, though I'm looking, my heart isn't in it.

@andy-c1 please bear in mind that if third party custom POI files are important to you then forget the iPhone. Importing POI files is the one ingredient that all apps are missing unless you jail break the iPhone, even running JB some applications offer better support than others.

As for a production device based review we will have to wait till it hits the stores, perhaps by Christmas - Mike

Yes, TT have promised us production units as soon as they are available.

But don't hold your breath on any changes of note!

1. Home 3 not letting you know what it is doing and whether it has done it.
2. No access to software to correct glitches/no 3rd party poi additions, in my case National Trust locations.
3. Weedy little processor [touch exaggerated] - but no great advance on current capacity.
4. No expandable memory.

It has all been said before.......

But TT handed out the pre-production models to testers, so what have they done in response to those testers' feedback?

Is that an NDA that covers no changes, or an NDA that covers changes?
