|
|
Yesterday I performed the routine update of the 750 live, all went well.
Since then, it was stuck in a restart loop so I did various things with mapsettting.cfg and achieved the same result. I can't even turn it off as it sticks shutting down and restarts.
So, I blanked the microSD and readded maps and the other things installed, nothing unusual just POIs and stuff. It appeared OK but then I've obviously added something that it doesn't like and goes back to the loop. Has anyone stumbled across an update that causes this? I'm going to roll it back to the basic map (2GB Europe) and see if I can see where it fails.
Could something more untoward be happening? |

Seems to me 2 issues.....
The sticking button is hardware and, if true, unit is under warranty, is it not?
The rebooting issue.......
Did you try deleting the mapsettings.cfg file completely and letting the application recreate it when starting up? _________________ David |

The physical button is fine, and I did eradicate the cfg without any effect.
I've blanked it again, and have readded the 2GB euro map, with mapshare POI and map updates. UK Premium cams worked too. Fuel Price station POI appears to work OK so I'm adding bits back one by one.
At the moment, I can manually shut the unit down without hanging and rebooting, so that's an indicator as to what I've last added has knackered it. |

Nothing that makes the unit loop so far, fuel price updates are the next on the list. Once that's done, a couple of POI categories that have been fine in the past.
One item at a time, test, add another. |

All the important stuff appears to be OK, so...
I've added a couple of POI categories: Some directly to the card, and also via TT Home.
For example, I'm a cheapskate so I've got the Crown Carveries POI. I hooked up the 750 to my laptop (XP), started home and connected to computer. Dropped in the OV2 and BMP for the POI, let it finish and then ejected the 750. When it restarted, went navigate to, POI near home, Crown Carveries. It sits waiting for a GPS lock, so I cancel. Small error shown in top right corner "pla/mnt/sdcard" and the unit locks. Restart it without the PC, same thing. Reconnect it to the laptop, remove the POI and it's OK.
Added the POI using TT Home, so it also gets the TLV file, and it will lock with the same error if you cancel planning.
Happens with more than one added POI category too. If I use an inbuilt POI (hotel) and cancel planning, I get a healthy "planning cancelled" and normal operation.
I also tried adding a POI category and entry using the 750 itself. Once I've added the POI, planned to it and cancelled waiting for GPS, I get the "pla/mnt/sdcard" message.
I wonder if there's a problem with the card, or an issue with POIs that are added?
The TT Home supplied "motorway services" also causes this error and lockup. Using inbuilt "airports" is fine. |

Adding the carveries POI to the internal memory, using TT Home doesn't lock when you cancel and the happy "planning cancelled" message arrives. Perhaps an issue writing to the microSD then. |
