I've had Garmins for a while, but have just subscibed to this site and decided to try to expand the info on my Zumo 550.

I've been reading up on the site and am a bit confused, not being computer literate is a bind isn't it? Sad

I'm sure I've read that if you upload POIs, it overwrites the info on the unit. If I've uploaded some fuel stations for example, then I upload cafes, will I lose the fuel stations? Or do I have to lump them together somehow and upload them simultaneously? How does this impact on loading up speed cameras?

Last night I succesfully loaded fuel stations, then tried M/C dealers using the same route. The latter didn't appear, but the fuel stations are still there????

I've tried to follow some discussions, but when there's talk of SD card limits, or anything much to do with folders etc. I get brain tired. Who said silver surfers were the future?

With the Garmin units you have to upload all the POIs in one go.

Just set up a folder on your PC and keep a copy of your POIs there. When you download an update you need to copy it to that folder and let it overwrite the old files.

Then use POILoader to upload all the POIs in one go (even the ones that haven't changed since last time)

To remove a POI category from your unit, just delete it from the folder on the PC and then re upload the remaining POIs, even if they haven't changed.

Thanks a lot for that, even I can understand it. Smile

What about cameras, are they a different set up?

Nope. Throw them in at the same time and POILoader will sort them out and set the alerts for you. Just use Express mode and make sure you set it to MPH and not KPH when prompted.

Thanks again for that info. Seems I've got it sorted. Smile

Yet another question, if you'll forgive me. Embarassed

I have the camera icons on screen, (although I can't differentiate between them, that doesn't matter), but no audible alerts, are they available somewhere?

The Voice Alerts are here

Unzip the file and added the contents to the folder with the database in it and upload the lot. It will take longer and if it looks like it's failed /frozen leave it for a bit...

As the Zumo 550 has an mp3 player the mp3 alerts will work fine, as long as you choose the right download. i.e. Consolidated, Speed Zoned etc. Before you upload check each CSV file has a matching mp3 file in the folder.

i.e.
Gatso_Thirty.csv
Gatso_Thirty.mp3
Gatso_Forty.csv
Gatso_Forty.mp3
Gatso_Fifty.csv
Gatso_Fifty.mp3

etc

Different units work in different ways but the general rules is if you are not speeding there will be no audio alerts.

Secondly make sure you have Proximity Alerts on for Custom POIs in the settings.
