POI Icons

I was hoping that SatMap's recent upgrade might include some additional POI icons, but was disappointed. Most of those provided seem to be more directed towards geocaching, and there are few covering places of interest to those just exploring the countryside.

I had previously prepared a folder of additional POI icons for this purpose that may be of interest to others. They may be added to the My POI Icons file as described in the SatSync manual, but this may be a bit arcane for some. I'm not sure that SatMap would approve my distributing their file with my new icons included. So I have also prepared a small 'quick and dirty' program to simplify addition of these new icons to the SatMap file.

The additional icons and the program to add them are available for download together in a zip file from http://sites.google.com/site/chrisjakartaind/poicopy. There are separate instructions for use of the POICopy program. Instructions for installing the file to an Active 10 are included in the SatSync manual.

I have checked these files carefully to ensure that they do not include any malware, and work as advertised, but in case of problems or any other feedback, please let me know.

Managed to get it to work after a few attempts and messages saying "0 icons added". Your hard work is appreciated.

Discovered afterwards that since I keep my icons on the SD cards to save internal memory, I could just have followed the Satmap instructions for Mac users and extracted your folder "9c" to the "My POI Icons" folder on the SD card (using the pc, not Satsync). If anyone else does this they must remember to tick the relevant box on the second tab of the Settings tab on Satsync, per the Satsync manual. To remove the icons from the internal memory you have to create and import a dummy file per section 2.3 of the Satsync manual.

The only down side is that I now have to do this on each of my SD cards.
