After months of apathy, I made the device detailed elsewhere in this forum to allow my TMC aerial to attach to the car's radio aerial to get a better signal.

http://www.pocketgpsworld.com//modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=75842

The only difference was that I attached the TMC aerial directly to the capacitor rather than to a piece of coax as I wanted to bury everything in the dash and just have the TMC plug appearing below TomTom's bracket.

The only problem is that it doesn't work at all. I've checked everything with a meter, including the capacitor, and can't find anything wrong.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

You did attach the TMC antenna to the correct side of the capacitor and haven't fried it by putting 12v in to it??

Do you still get the traffic bar on the right side of the screen on the device when the RDS unit is plugged in to the Nav unit? - Mike

Yes I got the traffic bar and the "hunting for a signal" green arrow. It just never found one. The radio worked OK. The TMC aerial works fine now, stuck to the screen as normal.

Are you sure you dinn't manage to short out the coax inner core to the screen on the leg that connected to the RDS unit near the capacitor? - Mike

Pretty sure. I'll have a check though.
