Switch from Garmin to TT?

My Garmin 760 seems to have problems that are not fixable and I am therefore in the market for a new satnav. I have been happy with the 760 but as it is not that old and already on it's way out I am considering TT. I borrowed a friend's TT One xl and found that I liked the spoken instructions and the info at the bottom of the screen. The voice is much better than Garmin and the instructions very clear and timely. However, I noticed a lot of map errors within just a couple of miles of home. Mostly just roundabouts that have been replaced with lights and that sort of thing but one major error where a main route through Gateshead over the Tyne Bridge into Newcastle was wrong. This route was changed over 5 years ago and my Garmin had the correction within weeks. I assumed my friends unit was very old and she had not updated the maps but it turned out she bought it last November and regularly updates it. All of the errors I found are at least 5 years old and are within 2 miles of home. Is this a problem elsewhere? Also this model is much more difficult to see with glare than the 760. Are there models that are better from that point of view?

I don't think there is a vast difference in map data between Tele Atlas and Navteq in the UK.

I've noticed Tele Atlas often map newer estates quicker than Navteq, though I think they often use planning data and the eventual shape of a new road is sometimes slightly different, and they don't update the data to the correct shape that quickly.

I think IQ routes and HD traffic would likely swing me towards TT for my next device rather than any map data issues.

Just updated from the website I think. Was a long time ago so can't quite remember. Maybe there are errors on navtec as well but haven't come across many and certainly not such a major error as the one to which I referred. I am surprised that with the map share feature this hasn't been corrected. I'll try to borrow the tt again as I was impressed by certain aspects of it. However, I suspect that IQ is of little use in Newcastle as I'm sure that if enough info was available from tt users things like that glaring map error would have been corrected with map share.

Thanks Andy. I think it's going to have to be Garmin again. I did discover a map error on my current 760 today but the errors on tt were correct on it. I suppose it's probably 6 and two 3s between them.

I find that Garmin has much more up to date maps that TT.
