Whilst I agree with your sentiments & I have to confess to nodding off more than once while attempting to wade through the posts from Orac1 I'm not sure what has been gained by splitting the posts. The original topic ran out of steam over a week ago when playswell was advised to contact TomTom & whilst I accept that the thread then wandered off topic it's now locked so splitting it now seems to be a bit OTT |

My fault, I didn't realise I had left the other topic locked - it is now unlocked again. In the interests of free debate, we don't normally lock threads except in circumstances like this where I decided action was needed and locked the thread whilst I took that action - it took me some time, because I also have a life outside these forums.
Whilst this thread did indeed reach a conclusion a week ago, the other one continued up until I locked it yesterday.
The reason for splitting them is twofold
A) The first thread will be of value to anyone else searching for a solution to the same problem. It would seem a wise course to read the whole of any thread before jumping off to cure something. As the rest of the thread didn't concern the problem, splitting it saves the next searcher five pages of unrelated reading.
B) I was accused of stifling "legitimate debate and scientific research", so having that stuff as a separate thread now enables the debate and research to continue. Deepest apologies again for leaving it locked - help yourself if you wish to continue the discussions.
I did point out that I had no issues with your posts, merely chose that place as appropriate to divide off the topic - I left the last really important item, namely a warning that TomTom Fuel POIs can degrade the pgpsw camera database and split it off after that. _________________ Dennis

Hi DennisN, no problem I wasn't taking it personally & having unlocked the split off thread it now makes sense & any additional posts will hopefully serve as a cure for my nocturnal insomnia |
