Comments on waypoints

There is an option to add comments to waypoints. However, I have yet to find a way that these comments can easily be viewed while following a route. I would like to add comments from guides, including to assist in finding paths, and also to remind me to look for interesting things to look for. Is there a way to see these comments?

Again, it seems to me that the centre press while following routes and at waypoints is missing useful features. In fact the information shown (only position information) is not very useful at all. And again centre press on routes could offer an appropriate set of button choices, rather like a Windows right-click context menu.

I know that the comments on POIs can be easily read with the joystick centre-press, because I've done it. I thought this, or similar, could be found on waypoints, I'll get mine out and check...
