GO 51O EU Maps - Best way to get them....

Hi Folks, hoping that you'll come to the rescue again. A few of you kindly suggested which TT i should look for given my useage, typical of me. Bought the GO 510 as a 2nd hand unit with UK maps and now realise that i'm doing a days driving around France next month!
Any tips to share about the best way to get the maps for western europe? I coudl of course shell out to TT direct, but am wondering if its possible just to buy the maps 2nd hand on an SD card for example? If so, is it simply a job of popping in the new card or am i likely to run into issues with the software not being recognized/locked due to license issues??

Don't really want to pay out £50 to TT if i can help it for something that will get minimal use. Need the Sat Nav as we're doing a driving tour in sports cars, so map reading is not an option!
