Do you mean something in addition to the option within the menu system? |

If the volume slider is up as far as it will go than that is it, as far as the internal loudspeaker is concerned.
Your options are:
1. Possibly try a different software version. The volume has gone up and down (a bit) over the years. I must admit I've lost track of the details, of which version seemed loudest to most people (it wasn't at all straightforward!).. Be aware that an old version of software may not work with a more recent map.
2. Use a TTS navigation voice, as these are quite a bit louder. The drawback of this is that there is only one overall volume control and so any other sounds (such as POI warnings) will be relatively quieter than the new voice.
3. Use an external loudspeaker plugged into the Line Out socket
4. Use the Bluetooth or FM transmitters to send the audio to your car radio or another BT device. |

Yes, Hoped there would be a 'patch' or app to 'ramp' up the volume a bit |

Hoped I would be able to install an app to make it louder |

Good luck! If you find one, you'll make a lot of people here very happy.
Did you see where I said that various versions of the software have increased or reduced the level?
TomTom did that in one of their more ridiculous "fixes" when people complained of distortion at high volume (especially when running on battery).
Rather then fix the problem, they just turned the maximum volume down.
You might be on a low one. |

App 8.302 is the latest version which is audible. I believe it was v8.350 which corrected the volume crackle by reducing the volume, 8.351 corrected that, except that it didn't! In my opinion, the reduction in volume was very significant - so much so that I could not longer understand anything when my van was running (and it's a quiet van, not a banger). Other people did not find it a problem (sorry, issue/challenge).
I'm sticking with 8.302 until such time as they get the volume "issue/challenge" sorted out. It runs latest map 840. _________________ Dennis

Make sure the checkbox for "Link volume to car speed" (or something like that) isn't checked as this often lowers the volume rather than doing what it should do as you speed up - Mike |

Thanks for the reminder of the version history Dennis, and a good point to check from Mike.
Considering the number of times I have changed the software recently and that the option he mentions annoyingly gets SWITCHED ON again every time I do it, I'm amazed I forgot to mention it in my post! |

Go to Preferences
Page 2 - Volume prefs
Set slider to 100%
Untick "Link volume to noise level!
That did it for me.................... |
