I keep my POI's updated but I am still getting bleeps along, for example, the A14 going east approaching the M11 at the sites of the old cameras when there has been average speed cameras there for a long time. Is it just that pocket world hasn't got rid of them yet - or should I be doing more than just copying and replacing the files (I use the full set)?

Hi dbat2, how you get rid of POI's depends upon which SatNav you have. If it is a TomTom can you connect it to your PC and view the files in WinExplorer after installing the very latest download from here? If so, you should be able to search for .ov2 files and then sort them looking for which are older than a week or so. This should let you know which files are giving you problems.

If you look at the submission map, you will see that our database only has SPECS that you mention and Mobile cams on the A14. I suspect that the alerts you are getting is from the mobile cam sites, which are rarely in operation.
If you come across a Fixed cam that is not there but in our database, please report it, but please don't report 'missing' mobiles

dbat2 - Did you follow the advise here regarding the TEMP camera files from last October?

in feb 09 you download the single file version of the database and, since then, have used the speed zoned database.

the old, single file, database will NOT have been over written by the speed zoned files (different file names) so it may also be this old file sitting around giving you grief. it would be called pgps_uk_sc.ov2 if you wanted to check for it's presence?

Many thanks for all your help - I had checked the temp file wasn't there last summer (but thanks for the reminder!) but you prompted me to check for old files...and I found a set from uk_safety_cameras so I think they are the culprits. I'll let you know next time I trundle down the A14!

Cheers
