RDS Receiver packed up on Tomtom 730T

Hi gents.

Anyone can solve this one. My RDS cable has been working fine recently when out of the blue it stopped yesterday from Essex to Gloucester and the return journey today. It is searching for the signal but has not found anything in a total of 8 hours driving.

Have I touched something I shouldn't have or do you think the wire is broken again? The device is finding the receiver, just not the signal.

I have had a few problems with mine in the past.
Once it was a problem with the wire , where it had pulled out ( somehow ?? ) near the egg shaped receiver 'thingy'.

Another one needed to be plugged into the 730T just right or it would'nt work ( that one went in the bin pretty quickly ).

Just the other day my one was searching for well over an hour , so I pressed the reset in the bottom of the 730T and restarted it and it worked fine after that.
Worth giving the reset a go.

Are you using the egg shaped aerial receiver?

I have noticed that, although mine does work very well most of the time, it seems to be that, as long as I start it from home or from the last location when it was operating , then it works fine. If, however, (say) I don't use it on an outward journey, then connect it for the return, it takes a lot longer to connect. That may be only in my mind. Make sure you have it connected and a route planned before you set off and see if it makes any difference.

The last RDS-TMC reception radio frequency employed is stored within the PND device which goes some way to explain why it works better if switched on/ powered up in the same location last used rather than moving it 100+ miles - Mike

Thanks for the replies gents. I am back at home now (Essex) and still not receiving. I have reset and still nothing. I have had a peep at which frequency it is set to. It is reporting 88.0. Does that sound right?

What frequency is Classic FM broadcast on near you?

Try manually setting it to that frequency.

Gee-Pee, I have entered the frequency manually and it's back to the searching mode still. I think it must be the wire.
