very pleased with mu nuvi 765t ,apart from low volume on speaker on phone calls,is this normal or is it my phone[blackberry storm].

I could use the line out to some sort of a amplified speaker, anyone know if there is anything available that would do the trick.

I do not want to conect to radio.

On the 765, there are separate volume settings for different functions - maybe you've got the phone set lower than the others?

(From the manual: "To adjust the volume levels for the voice prompts, the media player and the phone, touch Mixer. Adjust the levels as needed")

Re: using the Line Out - you can use something like a cheapo 'ipod dock' - anything you can shoe-horn into the car somewhere, that you can power from 12V (I use a Tevion thing from Aldi, that cost about £7.50 - it makes as big a difference to the quality of the sound, as to the quantity)

Incidentally, if you're capable of soldering while peering through a magnifying glass, you can modify the cradle and pick up the audio from there, rather than having to keep attaching it to the headphone socket.

See: this thread on GPSPASSION.COM for details.

Ipod dock was probably not the right phrase - since it only has a 3.5mm jack input, not an Apple cradle.

However - I found something similar - but with a twist... this is much more sophisticated than the thing I used...
Linx BTube bluetooth rechargeable MP3 ipod speaker ... £11.99 inc P&P

Not only does this have a wired-connection - but you can pair it as a bluetooth o/p device on the 765 (A2DP compatible).

(You might want to investigate powering it from 12V, rather than rechargeable batteries.

UPDATE: Review says it can be charged via 5V USB; 12V -5V convertors are readily available)

I couldn't resist buying one of these at that price ...
...it works great with a Nokia 6760 Slide...it works great with an iPhone...but with a Garmin Nüvi 765t - problems Crying or Very sad

Using British English Daniel as the voice on a simulated route ... he talks really s-l-o-w-l-y and in a deep, deep voice (he sounds slight drunk!). He's accompanied by a background clickety-click noise. On the other hand, the Speed Camera alerts are played at about 10 times normal speed and pitch Exclamation

I paired the Nüvi with a Nokia BH-501 stereo headset - same result - the fault appears to be firmly at the Garmin end Crying or Very sad
