Guys, your help here will be appreciated!

I've just taken delivery of 3 Garmin nuvi's and didn't know which to review first... Your thoughts please on the following:

nuvi 1240
nuvi 1490T
nuvi 1690

mmm.... I guess the 1690 has all the bells and whistles, but I would say maybe the 1240 would be a good bet, it seems to be a device that has had rather less publicity than the 13xx to 16xx series devices.

As the 2x5 series are popular this is likely to be the long term replacement so I would plump for that.

Very interested in your 1690 thoughts too though.......

i've been using the 1690 most of today and at the moment i'm just sort of 'meh' about it... the touch screen isn't very sensitive for starters BUT this may be due to it being a review device that has been a few places already... 3 things i liked about the 6xx and 7xx series (and others too) are now missing: there's no option to copy your phone's address book to the device when using it as handsfree, no headphone socket, no mp3 player...

ok, so the nulink stuff is good - petrol prices were spot on and the oldest data was 2 days old, weather is fairly accurate, flight times could be useful, google search is very handy and works well.

eco routes is a nice idea but i'm not convinced how useful it is. gimme another week of playing!

Any more thoughts now you have had the unit a while MaFt?

Interested to know whether the traffic is any good, no-one seems sure whether it is just standard trafficmaster data over a GPRS link or not.

traffic seems quite good though i don;t think it's like tomtom's hd traffic (i.e. using phone signals etc etc).

Does the 1690 display adverts in the UK? I have seen a lot of discussion about this on US sites. Are they really doing it here?
