Yesterday I tried to download the latest map I was offered and it came up with the error:

"There is not enough free space on your device to add the item. You need to remove: 4.3Mb."

I did try to search the forum for the above – honest – but not been able to find any posts on it.
Can anyone tell me what I need to delete to be able to complete the download? I have of coarse have a backup via explorer.

Many thanks,

When you searched, did you select the "Search for all terms" option?

Have a look at this response from mikealder to a similar question.

Many thanks for your response. I must admit I didn’t select "Search for all terms" option.

Looked at the tread you referred to but it seem to my 70 yr old head that it deals with memory card that I don’t have. May be to get my head around it I need some exact answer.

Thanks,

Hi g0tch
I began to get short of room on my 720 and overcame the problem by buying a 4Gb memory card. It only cost a few quid from Amazon and it solved the problem immediately both for now and for the immediate future.

After inserting the card and running ‘Home’ it will ask you to select your navigation device, either Internal Memory or Memory Card. Chose Memory Card and then ‘Update My Go’. It should then go just fine with plenty of room on the Memory Card.

PS. I’m older than you.

You would probably find it more helpful to get a memory card for your GO730T - as you see, below, I have. They are very cheap at the moment - I have just bought a Kingston 4Gb SDHC card for less than £6.

There are explicit instructions here for installing the card.

Oh! Trevor's beat me to it. AND btw I'm much older than you Wink

Many thanks to all. Looks like I will be getting a 4Gb memory card then. Any suggestion as to where to find the fastest supplier?

There are lots of places - just search for a 4Gb SDHC card or see HERE - I'm afraid it is a little more expensive that what I paid for it about two weeks ago - it was on special offer with an item of photography that I bought, but it is still relatively inexpensive.
I expect others will offer other places.

Funny you should point me to that site. Been there earlier and ordered one.
Many thanks for all replies

In fact the problem is that the Tomtom server does not recognise that the device is a UK device, so it generates a map for download that includes lots of unnecessary localisation files.

The solution is to:

Back up (obv). I took a separate backup (folder copy) of the 3 folders LoquendoTTS, voices and zip.
Format the internal memory.
Use home to install the map. Then close home and remove all the localised files from the map. They are obvious - all the same bar the endings (IT, ES and so on). Leave the GBR ones on though!
Restore the 3 folders.
Then use home to install the OS and anything else missing.

Worked for me on a 2GB 750 Live.

Thanks for all the replies. Today my 4Gb card arrived. Put in the device, started TT, selected the card and I had the same error. Might be a dodgy download, I thought. Deleted the last download then spent 4hrs to download it again, at the end of which I had the same error again. Below is all I see when I opened “show error”

You may want to try a map install without using Home. A method to do so can be found here
