So now that people have had time to play and use the software in anger, as it were, what is the routing like on the Sygic? Does it go the way you would expect, or take strange shortcuts or long ways round?
How does it compare to TTN6 (which has always seemed good to me) or to Copilot (with which I have had issues)?

Thanks for the info.

As TT is not an option and the current version of Garmin XT has a corrupted screen when in landscape then Sygic may be the option

Just to confirm that TomTom works perfectly on the HTC HD2 with 835 maps , and application version 7.916 (9189).

I have to say TomTom will be very foolish if they do not officially support this device. I've been involved with SAT NAV before TomTom released any products, and owned or used nearly all of their products and other manufacturers. TomTom running on the HD2 is FAST, faster than any of their PND's the display is huge, possibly too large and the TomTom screen may need enlarging. The items that are missing are IQ routes, lane assistance, text to speach, voice command and HD services.

It would be nice if we see an official Navigator v8 or v9 that delivers all of the latest Navcore 9 functionallity.

How did you install? I need to put on my own micro SD card.

Tomtom 7 works perfectly on my HD2. I tried CoPilot on my iPhone and was seriously unimpressed. it looks good, but the fact it would regularly pull me off motorways or a roads to take some dodgy diversion and then rejoin the road I left the previous junction. All the bells and whistles are secondary to getting me there in the best route possible. Also in Birmingham Tomtom has more up to date maps than CoPilot which is where I work and need it most.

For completeness of posting, I have tried installing TTN6 on my HD2, and the install screens are illegible. Triple ghosting and only on the top third of the screen. Oh well, that's not a solution then.

There seem to be conflicing reports; is TTN6 compatible with the HD2?

I thought it was worth a look and:

http://www.tomtom.com/products/section.php?ID=898&Section=709&Lid=1&Category=2

The HD2 is listed as compatible.

This is a relief for me. I'll probably ebay my Tytn II with TTN6 included to fund purchasing TTN7 for a new HD2.

TT6 is only a QVGA application so if the HD2 is full VGA like my HD TP2 then it will not work.

I did likewise and sold my TyTN II with the TT6 left installed.

I see TT7 for PDA and Smartphones has resurfaced on the TomTom website as actually available to buy again.

I don't agree that TTN6 is QVGA-only, as I mentioned earlier, I had it running nicely on my old Dell Axim x50v PDA and that has a VGA (640x480) screen. Moving it to my Tytn II meant a smaller display and lower resolution!

I can't seen any problem concerning legality of selling? As a former software developr who saw a lot of my work being hawked by pirates, I can tell you that I'm totally against piracy and even do my best to stop my kids from doing it. But I can't see a problem in selling the licensed product on as long as I don't ever use that licence again, which I wouldn't.

It'a a matter of trust for the purchaser I think. But they have some protection from eBay.

1. VGA= I agree with Ian - TTN6 works perfectly on my VGA HP hx4700. It sort of nearly loaded on my WVGA HTC HD2, but only in a VGA bit of hte screen and with lots of flickering so you couldn't enable it.

2. Great to see TTN7 available, but I don't want another micro-SD card. How can I load it onto my 16GB one?

3. Is this too little too late? TTN7 is now VERY old (June 2008) technology - most of their stand alones are on version 8 I believe. Therefore no IQ routes, no advanced lane guidance, no latest map guarantee.

If you read the terms of the licence I think you will find it is non-assignable. But then who bothers reading them before clicking the "I agree" button? And I know TT don't really mind - I got my (genuine) TTN6 second hand from fleabay and was able to register it with TT

One thing you should do is remove the PGPSW speed cameras (if you have them) from the device. If you dont and the purchaser decides to put those cameras on a torrent site they can be traced back to you and you will be banned from here.

Not sure that is quite right....if I remember correctly, and I would need to double check, I asked this very question some time back, and I think I had a response that it would be no problem to leave the cameras on.!

I can only think it must be that our attitude towards the pirates has hardened considerably lately (you could probably find a few instances of me being quite rude about it).

I think we might be tolerant if it had been left on by mistake without realising it, or perhaps sent for repair without having chance to delete them first because it wouldn't switch on.

Seeing as I get on fine with TTN6, I should think that TTN7 would be just fine too. Is it not available as a download from the TT site? It's a bit cheaper in boxed form though (maybe only marginal including postage). I am a little miffed that I will most likely need to upgrade to 7 with no compensation as an existing 6 user though, especially as I bought the Western US map as well.
