Not sure which version of POI Warner I need to load the Pocket GPS Speed Camera Database? When I go to POI Warner Site it only seems to let me d/l Navigon MobileNavigator s/w which looks like it's for mobile phones not the unit itself. Can anyone advise/help further??
Confused
Thanks

Have you looked here?

The top left version 7 looks like the one but can you confirm which software version your device is using?

EHH??!! ... They've never said that before and the POIWarner has been installed on various models of Navigon over a number of years with full publicity. Given that Navigon REFUSE to support user-input POI files themselves, this would stop their sales to anyone who needed/wanted customised POI categories (eg caravan club, CAMRA, etc) stone dead I would have thought.

I would go back and ask what new terms they have just introduced on their new models to outlaw this previously accepted software, I'm sure you'll find that this is completely duff advice by someone very inexperienced. Apart from anything else, AFAIK POIWarner is standalone and not integrated with Navigon's own software at all - no changes are made to that. So anytime you needed a warranty claim, it can, if necessary, be completely uninstalled - data and software - so how would they know anyway?

I have emailed Navigon for clarification. Exclamation

BUT BUT READ THIS......

Yesterday I bought & downloaded from Navigon the following:-

NAVIGON City View3D
NAVIGON Landmark View3D
NAVIGON Real Roadsign Pro

& guess what? Shocked

When I load navigon fresh & select "My System" then it shows the above added. And to my astonishment it says POIWarner is installed!!!!!!! I have NOT installed this. It seems as if Navigon are now using this....!!!!!?????? Shocked

I'll wait to hear back from Navigon before I see what they have to say about this... Confused

Ah - don't be fooled! Navigon call their OWN POI software "POIWarner" as well! Absolutely NO connection with navigating.de's product, that you are having the problem with.

Actually, I wonder if the Navigon advisor was also confused and thought you were talking about their POIWarner program - if they got the impression you were talking about altering that, then they might get a little upset.

EDIT: Just looked through their T&Cs. There is a section on 3rd Party software products which Navigon have incorporated into their software, of which I am pretty sure their POIWarner is one. Nothing at all about introducing independent 3rd Party products being a problem.

Of course, if an introduced product resulted itself caused unauthorised changes to Navigon's own software/3rd party product so that it could work, set that might be problematical, but I am pretty sure that's not the case with navigating.de's POIWarner - if they were meddling with the host code without Navigon's agreement, I think they'd all be in court right now![/quote]

For interest re POIWarner - today navigating.de said
Quote:
The use of POI-Warner is legal but it is an unsupported modification of your Navigon System. Therefore, if something goes wrong, Navigon will claim that POI-Warner is responsible for that and make you pay for the repair. However, POI-Warner can be removed completely in case of doubt.

I've asked Navigon a few questions recently and will post the answers if they seem of interest to anyone else. One answer I have had so far is about 'when will user-defined POI support be introduced?' They answered in December
Quote:
We are more and likely going to release this feature in spring of next year, but this is not final yet, we recommend to check www.navigon.co.uk frequently to see if there is any update regarding this matter
So hope springs eternal Razz

BTW has anyone got Live Services Traffic up and running properly in the UK yet?

I have just bought the 4350 max and am about to download Poi Warner. But can you add your own POI (well the various ones I have collected for my previous satnav). I understand about the various formats of POIs and have in the past used POI Edit. Or does POI Warner just use it's own POIs.

If you can use your own then what format do they have to be in - I noticed on one website that they were provided in both asc and csv format?

You can use (free) ones from POI-W or from elsewhere (eg Caravan Club or PGPS). I use (Navman) asc format and it works fine for me - just put the files in the
flash-drive/NAVIGON/POIWarner/pois directory. I suggest you reset the GPS (paper clip in hole at bottom) if you have any problems. On coming up you should see each file being processed by POI-W and afterwards each file extention is changed to .bak - if you need to repeat then change back to .asc.
If you have problems re-post, and good luck Smile
