Usual problem is you must have a computer voice selected. _________________ Dennis

I just tested by changing my voice to a recorded voice and expected to get them greyed out, but it didn't! I was still able to use the dialogue icon, although she didn't speak to me, just displayed the questions.
Have you got various things in speech preferences selected? _________________ Dennis

What country are you trying to navigate to? Or what was the last country you tried to navigate to? |

I've had this, and the quick fix for me was to do a "return to Factory Settings" (in the preferences menu)
You'll lose all your Favourites and home location, recent destinations etc. so save them as POIs if you need to keep them.
Try a reset first, if you haven't already. |

Have a look in the Western_and_Central_Europe map folder using Windows Explorer, are there any files named cspeech_XYZ where XYZ denotes the country in your case GBR? - If these files are missing you need to download them from TomTom, I am sure someone will have a direct URL to get the files - Mike |

Is this a new 920 bought in the UK? Has it always been greyed out for the Wesern Europe map?
Do you have a bunch of cspeechxx.dat files in the Western Europe map folder? _________________ David |

Then I suspect you have gotten a North American model (which is why the VR is activated when you switch to that map). If you have no speech files in the Western Europe map, no VR is possible.
I suspect moderator mikealder will be seeing this post and may be able to provide a link to the cspeech files you need.
Post exactly what map you have, the version and build number here; he'd that information.
To find it, tap the satellite bars on your unit. The next screen is the application installed. Tap the version number and the next screen shows the map, version and build. _________________ David |

What would the build number be like?

I will dig out the URL for the European CSpeech files when I get home as its stored on the PC, you might want to consider putting the USA map on an SD or SDHC memory card as the device only has sufficiant storage capacity for the CSpeech files for Europe OR North America, it cannot hold both sets of files unless you use a storage card - Mike |
