Some other issues:
- no auto-zoom at round-a-bouts and junctions.
- poi icons on the 2D map are tiny.....cant make them out at all.
- with ipod working in the background, the music sometimes stops to be followed by a period of silence before re-starting. Its as if navmii is trying to give some instructions but just cant get the words out!
- when approaching junctions the arrow sometimes "runs on" along the main road even though I have made a turning following the suggested route....navmii then "thinks" I have gone off route and recalculates the route even though I have actually continued along the suggested route.
Clearly there is still a lot of work needed on this before it becomes a serious contender. |

....and another thing. I absolutely HATE the voice used. He sounds like a local radio DJ. ..... |

i thought it went to an overhead view as you approach a roundabout while navigating? i quite liked that.
similar for all junctions would be good though!

Thought I'd give Navmii for iphone a try, mainly due to PGPS world cameras being included and from the little I've used it I'm quite impressed. Just some observations:-
- No warning bleep for safety cameras? even though set.
- would be nice to be able to configure distance warning for each type of camera/speed.
- Would like to see speed limit in force displayed all the time next to the actual (not just when exceeding).
- Some issue with incorrect speed limits (i.e. warning the limit is 30mph when it been 50mph for years)
- Would like to see GPS strength bars (5?) rather than red/yellow/green.
- generally good position following and speed reading.
- Voice seems to default back to Dave even though Kate is set.
- Ability to select POIs to be displayed.
- POI's are too small.
- Like the safety camera pop-up information - very clear.
- Safety camera date old - lets hope that the info gets updated 1 per week inline with PGPSW releases.
Overall I can not really complain for a £20 app. With the amount of companies offering smartphone routing solutions I think we are about to see the death of the dedicated PND; and on that bombshell - Goodnight!!! |

Didn't spot the Kate option......I'll try her for size.
Edit: Kate is much, much better. Thanks for the tip

Haven't noticed that.....but I've mainly used the 2D map so far. |

Just heard from Navmii that Alternate Route/Detour will be in the next release. _________________ Alan - iPhone 5 64GB, with CamerAlert, TomTom Europe & CoPilot |

i've noticed this too but only sometimes. other times i get the beep!

i agree. also, if you didn't know, it is shown in driver safety mode all the time but then you don't get maps..!!

this is an issue with the map data itself rather than the software. every satnav that has this feature suffers...

i thought this too! both have been mentioned to the developers!

pretty certain that someone said an update will add in-app database updates...

Navmii is starting to rival Copilot for bizare route suggestions. Below is the suggested route from Peterborough to Leicester. I do this route regularly and it is A47 almost all the way. The Navmii suggested going A1 / A14 / M1 resulting in a total distance of 83 miles......my normal route on the A47 is just 45 miles.
If these developers really hope to rival tomtom they have just got to get the routing sorted.....and quick!

You have to either link to the image itself with the img tags or to the webpage with the image on it with a url tag. I've converted your url in the quote to url tags for single-click access for others. _________________ Gerry

Thanks.....as you can see I found a handy little utility called picasa2html which seems to work perfectly. |

I've raised the routing issue with CoPilot several times. I posted the Navmii problem here because you said they are following this thread. I'll also send them direct feedback. |

I'll ask and see if they can be encouraged to post here, I know they are reading but we can't be 100% sure they have seen a thread whereas email avoids that doubt. _________________ Darren Griffin |
